Elyria High School Students:
Parents and Guardians of EHS / JVS Students:
JVS classes begin on Monday, August 31, 2026. For students who plan to ride buses to and from JVS, please read below:
-
The district's transportation provider, GG&C Bussing, will be providing the transportation to and from JVS.
-
The JVS buses have been adjusted to meet the new bell schedule at JVS – the buses will arrive at EHS around 6:50 AM at the lot on West Avenue across from the Performing Arts Center. The buses are scheduled to depart EHS at 6:55 AM. While there can be circumstances that delay departure by a few minutes, always plan for a 6:55 AM departure.
-
There are four buses scheduled for the JVS run. The first two buses will pull in along the curb next to the sidewalk, and the other two will pull into the actual lot.
-
Each bus will have a card in the windshield labeling them #1, #2, #3, and #4.
-
On Monday, August 31, 2026, GG&C and EHS personnel will direct students to their assigned buses. GG&C has assigned students to buses primarily based on last names in alphabetical order, and they are as follows (a small number of students may be the exception to this breakdown). This structure gives students an idea of where to head, and we will direct them to a different bus if needed:
-
Bus #1 – last names A - F
-
Bus #2 – last names G - Ma
-
Bus #3 – last name Mc - S
-
Bus #4 – last name T - Z
-
-
Students are expected to ride their assigned bus to and from JVS.
-
Buses will depart JVS shortly after JVS dismissal at 2:14 and return to EHS. The buses typically arrive back at EHS at 2:35-2:40.
-
Students are expected to follow the ECS Student Code of Conduct and transportation policies while riding the JVS buses.
-
Any violation of such policies while riding the bus is subject to disciplinary action/consequences issued by Elyria High School, including bus suspension, out-of-school suspension, and/or expulsion from school.
-
The West Avenue lot where students board and exit buses, and parents/guardians pick up students, is property of the Elyria City School District. Any violations of the Student Code of Conduct or prohibited conduct that occurs in that lot on the part of students or parent/guardians may also result in disciplinary action or consequences through EHS, the district, or the Elyria Police Department.
One final note, the students who attend the Early College program are also transported to and from LCCC from the same lot on West Avenue. The Early College buses should arrive after the JVS buses.
Please be extremely mindful of the students and traffic in that West Avenue lot in both the AM and PM. Cars should exit the West Avenue lot on the side closest to Wesleyan Village.
If your student ever has an issue on the bus, they can report to GG&C, the driver, any JVS administrator, any EHS team office, or by contacting me at the contact number/email listed below.
Please be patient these first few days as we get everyone settled. I wish all of your students a great year at JVS!
