Grief Group: Students involved in Mrs. Nemeth’s Grief Group, please turn in your permission form to Mrs. Nemeth in Student Services by Friday.
Connections Students: Friendly reminder to the 9th and 110th grade students to turn in your job shadow slips before October 6th. Forms can turned in to lab instuctors, Mrs. Balog or Student Services. If you have misplaced the form, you can find it in Canvas.
Navy and Marines: The Navy and the Marines will be here today in the Main Lobby during lunch periods
Brookside Homecoming Pep Assembly: This Friday October 2nd is Brookside Homecoming Pep Assembly starting at 1:45pm. Brookside is not providing an early bus to the JVS for the pep assembly. Students that can provide their own transportation to the Pep Assembly can leave at 1pm. Drivers will be permitted to sign themselves out. Bus riders will not be permitted to leave unless parents give permission. Parents and student were both emailed.
Midview Homecoming: Midview will be here today during lunch periods to sell Homecoming Tickets. Information regarding Homecoming was emailed to the students. Out-Of-School Guest forms can be picked up in Student Services.
Brookside and Elyria Students: Brookside and Elyria students will have representatives here tomorrow in the main lobby during lunch periods to sell homecoming tickets. Out-of-School Guest forms can be picked up in Student Servies.
Blood Drive: The Allied Health Sciences Program is excited to announce their Fall Blood Drive. The Blood Drive will be held October 2, 2026 in B121 (Med Tech Lab) from 8-1:30 pm. Students and staff can sign up using the posted QR codes. The QR code is the only way to sign up. Students can also sign up during lunch periods on Monday, September 28th.

AMHERST:
- Fall Sports Senior Nights: Fall Senior Nights are here! Join us as we recognize and celebrate the dedication, accomplishments and Comet Pride of our senior student athletes, cheerleaders and band members. Come fill the stands, cheer them on and help make these special evening memorable. Girls Soccer is Oct. 7th, Boys Soccer is October 12th, Cross Country is October 13th, Volleyball is October 15th, Football, Cheer, Band & Golf is October 16th. Mark your calendars and come out to support our seniors as they represent Marion L. Steele High School one more time! Go Comets!
- College Night: College Night is coming to Marion L. Steele High School! MLS students and parents are invited to join the Steele Counseling Department on Tuesday, September 29th at 6pm in the Creative Learning Center Presentation Area. The evening will cover: the application process, Common App, SchoolLinks, Upcoming ACT and SAT dates, FAFSA overview. Whether you are beginning the college-planning process or preparing to apply, this informative evening will help you take the next step with confidence! Questions? - Academic Challenge Club: Do you enjoy trivia, friendly competition, and showing off what you know? We would love to have you join this year’s Academic Challenge Team! Academic Challenge is a fast-paced team competition where students work together to answer questions on a wide range of subjects, from history and science to literature, current events, and more. It’s a fun way to challenge yourself, learn new things, have fun with your friends, and compete as a team! We’ll have two short seasons this year. Short after-school practices during the fall will be scheduled so they don’t interfere with fall sports. We’ll also develop a winter practice schedule that works for everyone. There will be one Saturday match in November, followed by a short winter/spring season from January through March. If you are unable to participate in both seasons, that is fine. Sign up for our Google Classroom using this Class Code: fzcwlt6. You can also stop by room 420 and speak with Mrs. Opel.
- Anime Club: New this year… Anime Club! Students can explore anime through drawing, character design, illustration, and creative projects. Come share your creativity, learn new artistic skills, and connect with other students who love anime and art. No experience necessary; everyone is welcome! See Mr. DiFranco in Room 4 for more information. The Anime Club will start in September and meets twice a month after school.
- Art Club: Love to create? Art Club is a place to explore your creativity, try new art techniques, and work on fun projects with other students. Whether you’re an experienced artist or just enjoy being creative, everyone is welcome! Come create, connect, and have fun while expressing yourself through art. See Mr. DiFranco in Room 4 for more information. The Art Club will meet in September and meets twice a month after school.
- Ecoleague: Ecoleague’s mission is to increase student awareness of environmental issues and give them the ability to make a difference; educate others about their responsibilities for improving their recycling habits; provide opportunities for students to become directly involved in a variety of environmental projects; and promote environmental awareness. See Mrs. DeLeon in room 510 for more information. Meetings are every Thursday at 7am in the CLC Mediascape Lounge:
- Gamers Club: This casual Gamer club welcomes any console, board, card game, etc. rated Teen or below. Play, watch, and/or talk about games with other members! Gamers Club will begin at the end of September and meet from 2:40-3:30 weekly. See Mr. Rubinski in room 511 for more information.
- Indoor Track and Field: Ready to run, jump, throw, or vault? Join Steele Indoor Track & Field! Build speed, strength, and confidence while competing with your teammates this winter. Everyone is welcome!
Indoor track and field practices daily starting at the end of November and going through February. See Coach Glatz in room 501 for more details.
AVON:
- Join Unified Sports: All juniors and seniors interested in joining Unified Sports, please fill out the form in your “Class of” google classroom.
- Attention Seniors: Make sure you take the time to schedule your individual senior meeting with your counselor. Please login to your class of 2027 Google Classroom and sign up for a meeting. Keep checking your Google Classroom and the Counselor’s Weekly Newsletter to stay up-to-date on all senior information.
- Seniors: Seniors, make sure that you are checking your AHS Gmail daily! There are numerous reasons our offices need to communicate with you and your families, and those communications can come daily, weekly and monthly. We want you to be as informed as possible and your Gmail will be key to doing so!
- Stem Club: STEM Club will have their first meeting on Tuesday, September 29th after school in room 242. Come learn about what we have in store for the club this year! See you there!
- Performing Arts Center Event Crew: Are you interested in getting more involved in Avon’s Performing Arts? Avon Performing Arts Center Event Crew will be holding its first meeting Monday, September 28th after school in the PAC Lobby. A PAC Event Crew makes all of the concerts, meetings and ceremonies in the P.A.C. run smoothly by helping with lights, sound, and stage crew. If you have questions, reach out to Mrs. Moyseenko.
AVON LAKE:
- Band Notes: On October 10 at 5pm in Memorial Stadium, The Marching Shoremen will be hosting our 61st Band A Rama! Admission and show details can be found on the link on our website. If there are any questions, please check out the website or email Mr. Brunger.
- Attention Seniors looking for Volunteer Hours: Troy Intermediate is looking for seniors with 7th/8th period pass to volunteer to help tutor students in reading Monday-Thursday from 1:30-2:30 pm. Volunteers will work alongside one of our teachers to provide extra reading support and encouragement to students. If you are interested, please reach out to the principal at Troy – Mrs. Lengel @ 440-933-2701.
- Student Spotlights: Would you like to see your students’ achievements highlighted in the newsletter? If your student participates in an out-of-school activity and you would like their achievement highlighted in our newsletter, please email Amy Gannon at amy.gonnon@alcsoh.org. Be sure to include the name of the sport, organization, or activity, along with details of the accomplishment or award.
CLEARVIEW:

- President’s Club: There will be a President’s Club Meeting for all members on Wednesday, September 30th at 8:15 am.
- Clipper Times: The September edition of the Clipper Times will be on sale TODAY during Homeroom and lunches for $1. See Mr. Ward or a staff member to buy your copy!
- Senior Car Wash: Come get your car washed on Sunday, October 4th from 10am-1pm at the American Legion on West Erie in Lorain. The senior class thanks you for your support.
COLUMBIA:
- Columbia Athletic Boosters: Columbia Athletic Boosters 2026 Fall Concession Stand Volunteer Sign Up is on our website.
- Colombia Service Club: There will be a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 30th at 2:50 in Mrs. Taylor’s room 7.
- FAFSA/Financial Meeting: There will be a meeting on Wednesday, September 30th at 6pm.
- Sophomore Class Ring Meeting: There will be a meeting Friday, Oct. 2nd at 10:15 in the gym.
- Senior Grad/Cap & Gown meeting: There will be a meeting on Oct. 2nd at 10:25 in the gym.
- Copopa Family Math and Literacy Night Volunteers: This event will be at Red Wagon Farms on Tuesday, Oct. 20th and a fun opportunity for students to earn community service hours.
- College Now: Mrs. Vega Hamilton from College Now will be here Friday, Oct. 2nd. Stop in to see here will all your college questions.
- Winter Cabaret: Winter Cabaret Audition forms are due Friday at 3pm. Anyone interested is welcome to join, no prior experience necessary! The link is on our webpage to sign up.
- Softball: Attention Girls interested in playing Softball in the Spring. Open cages are every Sunday from 11:30-12:30 at the High School. This will continue for approximately 6 weeks (weather permitting).
ELYRIA
- Voter Registration Drive: If you are 18 or WILL BE 18 BY November 3, 2026. You can register to vote in Room 126 (Mrs. Runion) or online. You have until October 5th to register to vote for the elections in November.
- Homecoming: Homecoming is October 10th from 6pm-9pm in the EHS Dining Hall. Homecoming ticket sales will run from 9/17 through 10/7. Ticket prices are one for $15 or two for $25. You can purchase them with cash during your lunch periods or before/after school in the main office. If you are paying with a card, you can scan the QR code in the cafeteria or access the tickets through the athletics website. Out of district guests must have a guest form approved before their ticket can be purchased. Guest forms can be found in your team office starting on 9/21. Out of district guests will not be permitted to go in without a valid ID. Tickets will not be sold after Oct. 7th.
- Homecoming Court Applications: Students will be required to apply to run for homecoming court. This ensures that the nominated students want to be nominated and are also eligible to be on court. The applications are available in the team offices and must be completed and turned into your team principal by Wednesday, September 30th. The Homecoming Court Application has the following requirements: have at least a 2.5 weighted GPA (or passing every class if you are a freshman), a signature from your team principal, 25 signatures from students in your grade level supporting your candidacy, 3 signatures from teachers. Keep in mind that as a member of Homecoming Court, you are expected to: be an active participant in a “goose chase” scavenger hunt around the building, have your picture taken, and be an active participant in the homecoming pep rally on October 8th. The winning king and princes and all queen and princess nominees are expected to attend the crowning ceremony at the football stadium before the homecoming game on October 9th. If participating in activities in front of crowds does not sound enjoyable to you, reconsider your intent to apply for homecoming court.
- PSAT Test: On October 27th, 2026, EHS will administer the PSAT test to any 10th and 11th graders that are interested. Class of 2028 students will be entered into the National Merit Scholarship Program and have an opportunity to earn a scholarship. Sign ups are on a first come, first serve basis. Any student interested in taking the test must sign up with the Team 2 Counselor, Ms. Jones in the Counseling Center by September 30th, 2026.
- Prom Committee: Seniors, it’s time to make prom unforgettable! Want a say in the theme, decorations, music, and all the details that make prom one of the biggest nights of the year? Sign up for Prom Committee and help us create a night your class will never forget. See any senior class officer or there is a sign up sheet outside of room 217.
- Free Driving School: Driving to Succeed program awards scholarships for driving school to Lorain County residents that are between 151/2 and 20 years old, have temporary permit, and are a SNAP recipient – within last 12 months or Proof of County Custody. Go to your Class of Google Classroom for application information or see Ms. Belcher in room 106.
- Anime Club: Anime Club members, please don’t forget that permission forms must be runed in by Wednesday September 30th. If you do not have them signed by then, you will not be able to stay for Anime Club until you turn the form. We want you there, so please get them signed! See Ms. Wolbert if you have any questions.
FIRELANDS:
- Big Brothers, Big Sisters: Any Juniors or Seniors who would like to be a “BIG” for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program at Firelands, please stop by the Student Services office for an application. Fill out applications and return them by FRIDAY!
- Attention Freshman: It is officially time to take the wheel and shape your own high school experience! We only have a short time left to build this year’s Freshman Leadership Committee, and we need to help make it happen. If you want to be the one calling the shots instead of letting others decide how your year goes, this is your ultimate chance to mastermind the fundraisers that fund our school year, invent and launch brand-new events, and take total control over how your first year looks and feels. If you can dream it, you can pitch it – so head over to Google Classroom right now, fill out the form ASAP, and start making the big decisions for YOUR school events!
- Seniors: Make your calendars! Commencement is scheduled for May 25th at 7pm in the Falcon stadium. Jostens will be at FHS on September 30th during 3rd period to review information about ordering your cap required to order the cap and gown if you plan to participate in commencement. If you have a financial hardship, please see your school counselor for assistance.
- Falcon Pride Raffle: We will have this week’s Falcon PRIDE Raffle Friday! This year we will be having PRIDE Cart Raffles weekly. Don’t forget to enter the raffle by going to the PBIS Rewards app using Clever and use your points to enter. Just click on the raffle tab on the app and enter to win. You will have until 12:40 on Friday to enter to win! There will be one winner drawn from each grade level! If you have any questions, email Mr. Taylor!
- Sophomores: Jostens will be at FHS to share information about ordering a class ring on September 30th. You are not required to order anything, but we will provide you with information if you wish to order this keepsake of your high school years.
- Junior Advisory/Prom Committee: We have just one open position up for Prom Committee election, Vice President, and your vote will determine who helps lead the ultimate party-planning squad. Head over to the ballot right now to select your top choice for Vice President, cast you vote today in google Forms, stay tuned, and we will announce the winning Vice President on Thursday, October 11th.
KEYSTONE
- Homecoming: Homecoming tickets are on sale during lunch periods in the cafeteria and after school in the office on September 23rd, 29th, and 30th. $15 presale, $20 at the door. Out of school guest forms must be turned in before you can purchase a ticket. Forms can be found in the office.
- Senior Pano: Senior Pano photo order forms are available in the front office. Seniors - you will report at 7:45 to the gym the Friday of Homecoming for the photo. Please plan on bringing your order forms that morning.
- Keystone High School Mock Trial Team: Interested in joining the Keystone High School Mock Trial Team? There will be a brief informational meeting after school on Tuesday, September 29th, in Mrs. Hartman’s room. This meeting is mandatory for anyone interested in participating in this season. If you are unable to attend, please see Mrs. Hartman as soon as possible.
- Powder Puff: It is time once again for the PowderPuff game. Your chance to see the junior girls take on the senior girls in a flag football game. And let’s not forget the unbelievable halftime show featuring dance performances of the junior and senior boys. All this for $5 on Wednesday, September 30th. Gates open at 6pm. The game starts at 7pm. Everyone pays because it is our one and only fundraiser for student council. See everyone there!
- FCCLA: There is an FCCLA meeting on Oct. 5th after school in Ms. Heff’s room.
- Homecoming Refreshments: The freshman class will be selling light refreshments at the homecoming dance. Bring your cash!
- Dance Team: There is a meeting for anyone interested in the dance team on October 1st after school in Ms. Heff’s room (room 123).
OBERLIN
- Homecoming: Oberlin High School Homecoming is October 10th from 7pm – 10pm. (The earliest you will be allowed to leave will be 9am with parent permission). The theme is Once Upon A Time. The Price is $15 single and $25 per couple. Dr. Tomlin OHS principal will be at the JVS on October 7th to sell tickets. Homecoming Out of School guest forms are due to OHS by Wednesday, September 30th 2026.
- Homecoming Schedule: Oct.9th at 4:30 is the OHS Parade, at 5pm is the Girls Soccer Game (Homecoming court crowning during halftime), 7pm OHS Band Performance (Light Show), 8pm is the Bonfire.
