AMHERST:

• Scholarship Opportunities: The Amherst Schools Educational Foundation (ASEF) and the Amherst Local Community Scholarships are now open, offering 40+ scholarship opportunities for Steele Seniors planning their postsecondary path. The Amherst Police Departments Scholarship and Sayers Family Scholarship require separate applications. All other scholarships must be submitted through the designated Google Forms. Applications are detailed, so students should review requirements carefully and be prepared to upload all necessary documents at submission. Recipients will be recognized at the Honors & Awards Banquet on May 5. Thank you to our Amherst community for your continued support of our students.
• Senior Scholastic Awards Banquet: The Senior Scholastic Awards Banquet is May 5, 2026 at German’s Villa beginning at 6pm. Seniors who have earned special academic recognition or who are receiving an Amherst Scholarship will be invited to attend. Invitations will be sent to students in late April along with ticket information. Tickets for the banquet must be purchased. Reservations need to be made with Mrs. Cooney.
• Last Day and Final Exams for Seniors: The last day of classes for the Class of 2026 is Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Final Exams will be on Monday, May 18^th and Tuesday, May 19^th.
• A Night of Jazz, Food & Fun: Join the Steele & AJH bands for a fantastic evening on Friday, May 1^st 2026 at 6:30 PM in the Marion L. Steele Cafetorium. Enjoy incredible performance by our Amherst Junior High and Steele High School jazz bands while savoring a delicious meal provided by Fligner’s. Tickets are $30 and included your dinner and beverages, plus you can check out our unique raffle baskets. Don’t miss this special night – get your tickets today and support our Jazz program. AVON:

• 2026 Commencement Ceremony: Avon High School’s 2026 Commencement Ceremony is taking place on Tuesday, May 26^th, 2026.
• Class of 2026 Stay Connected: Order your purple cap & gown now! You can find the link on our website. Graduation is NOW Tuesday, May 26^th at 7pm. Mark your calendars for the following dates: Senior DC Trip is March 18^th-21^st, Prom is Saturday, May 9^th, Senior awards are May 18^th, Senior Exams are May 18^th-20^th, Graduation Practice is May 22^nd and Graduation is May 26^th.
• Class of 2026 Brick by Brick: When working with the class leadership and knowing that we do not paint parking spaces or do some of the other school’s traditions, we created a NEW, awesome rite of passage for our seniors. Not to reference Pink Floyd, but our Seniors are more than another brick in the wall of the AHS Nest! Design your brick and we will add it to the wall. Purchase your vinyl sticker and follow the Canva directions in your Class of 2026 Google Classroom. Proceeds (after costs) go to the Class of 2026. These vinyl stickers can be taken with you as a memento.
• Prom: Prom will take place on Saturday, May 9^th at 6:30-10:30 at the Cleveland Museum of Art located 1150 East Blvd., Cleveland, OH. Tickets will go on sale from April 13^th-May1st. Sales will be online only. Please note: Seniors who have not met their fee obligations will not be able to purchase a ticket to prom. Each AHS senior may bring one guest. All prom guests who do not attend Avon High School must get prior authorization before attending prom. Guests must have a photo ID upon arrival to prom as well. Attire to prom is formal. Formal is defined as a full suit or tuxedo with tie, a full-length gown, and/or dress pants and a blouse.
• A Cappella Auditions for 26-27: Attention students. Auditions for the Avon A Cappella ’26-’27 season are just around the corner. Plan a school appropriate song of your choice that really shows off your voice! Auditions are May 12^th and 13^th. Please sign up using the QR code on the flyers around the building. Any questions? • Summer Musical Auditions: Attention Students! Auditions for our first ever summer musical: Six Teen Education are coming up on May 18^th at 3pm. Looking to get more information? Attend the informational meeting on April 20^th at 3pm in the Auditorium and check out the flyers around the building. Any questions? See Mr. Moyseenko in the choir room.
• Avon Eagle Run: The Bendix Eagle Run registration is now open! We invite the community to join us for the 24^th annual Avon Eagle Run presented by Bendix, Saturday, May 23^rd. At 8am at Avon High School. Proceeds from the Eagle Run benefit the Avon School Educational Empowerment Fund, the Grench Creek YMCA and other local charities. The family fun event includes a 5-mile run, 5K run/walk and 1-mile Kinds Fun Run. To register, go to the link on our website.

 

AVON LAKE

• Help Stock the ALHS Care Closet: The ALHS Care Closet is a community effort to care for our own. With your help, we provide students and families with essentials like coats, hygiene items, school supplies, AL gear, and snacks. We are currently running low on the below items. Individually wrapped snacks like granola bars, crackers, fruit snacks, or protein bars. New or gently used AL gear. Drop off donations at the Main Office to the attention of Kristin Action our Social Worker.  
• Band Notes: The Avon Lake HS Band Program performed at the Ohio Music Education Association’s District 4 Large Group Adjudicated event and had much success! The Concert Band earned an “Excellent” rating, and the Symphonic Band earned a “Superior” rating and earned a “Superior” in Sight Reading. The ALHS Jazz Band will travel to Brookside HS on May 1^st to participate in the Jazz fest (more to come!) The ALHS Band is currently preparing for their “Pops” Concert on May 7^th at 7pm in the PAC. Admission to the concert will be $5 at the door. Our yearly “Band Kick-off: to prepare for the 26-27 Band year will be April 29^th at 7pm in the PAC. All Band Parents and students are welcome! • Commencement Tickets: If you are in need of a handicap or wheelchair ticket, seniors should email Mrs. Gannon at amy.gannon@alcsoh.org to request a ticket. Please include the type of ticket needed (handicap or wheelchair) and the name of the person needing the ticket.

 

CLEARVIEW:

 

• Thought for the Month: “Life is like riding a bicycle…you don’t fall off unless you stop pedaling.”  
• Senior Walk at Vincent: Attention Seniors! The Senior Walk at Vincent is Tuesday, May 12^th at 2pm! The Vincent Elementary students and your former teachers really look forward to seeing you all! It is also a special moment with your graduating class! Please wear your cap and gown. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Karr!
• Senior Exams: Senior Exams will be held on May 7^th and May 11^th. Make ups will be on Tuesday, May 12^th. Seniors ONLY need to report to school for their scheduled exam. Check your email or see your teachers…exam scheduled were emailed to your.
• Senior Steak Fry: Seniors… the tradition continues! The senior steak fry will be held on Wednesday, May 13^th right after the Recognition Ceremony Practice. Cost is $10 for students (cash only) for either steak or chicken. Please see Ms. Campbell in the High School Office to sign up. Last day to sign up is Thursday, May 7^th. This is for Seniors and Staff Only. Please note- you MUST purchase a ticket to attend this event.
• Girls Basketball Open Gym: Girls’ basketball will be having open gyms every Tuesday and Thursday from 3-4:30 pm until the end of May. If you have any questions, contact Coach Fisher.
• Volleyball Open Gym: Volleyball will be holding open gyms on Thursday’s from 5pm – 6:30pm at the High School. If you have any questions, reach out to Coach Baxter or see Mr. Morehouse.
• Free Sports Physicals: Do you need a sports physical for the 26-27 school year? The Center for Orthopedics is offering free sports physicals on Friday, June 5^th from 1-5pm. See the athletic website or Mr. Morehouse for more details. Spots are limited, so secure your spot now.  

 

 

COLUMBIA:   

• Color Guard Clinics and Auditions: Clinics will be held Monday and Tuesday, May 11-12 from 4pm-6pm. Auditions will be May 13^th from 5:30-7:30. You must attend both clinics to audition. For more information, please contact Ty Coleman at tcoleman@clsdraiders.org.

• Certified Lifeguards Needed: Strongsville Rec needs certified lifeguards. Their starting pay rate is $14/hr with opportunities to earn up to $16/hr. Check out their website to apply under the human resource tab.
• Paid Internship: Lorain County Metro Parks is offering a PAID internship for high school students.
• Color Guard Clinics and Auditions: Clinics will be Monday, May 11^th and Tuesday, May 12^th 4pm-6pm. Auditions will be Wednesday, May 13^th from 5:30pm – 7:30pm. You must attend both days of clinics to audition! For more information, please contact Ty Coleman at tcoleman@clsdraiders.org.

 

ELYRIA

• Camp Invention: Looking for something to do when school ends? Are you looking for volunteer hours? Do you like helping kids explore, learn and create? Join our team as we help “SPARK” elementary students’ creativity and invent! Fill out the interest form by scanning below to learn more! Please see Mrs. Smith in room 228 or Mr. West in the HUB for more information!
• Chess Club: No Chess Club this Thursday, May 7^th. We will have our last meeting of this school year next Thursday, May 14^th in room 306W. We will see you then.
• Mobile Dentist: Mobile Dentist will be here May 6-7^th. Sign up forms will be available in homeroom, Team office and Clinic. If Eligible can get free cleaning, exam, e-rays, fill cavities and more. See Nurse for any questions.
• Unified Spirit Week: This week we are celebrating our Unified program and Special Olympics and having a spirit week to bring awareness to different invisible disabilities. Thursday we will wear teal/green for anxiety disorder awareness and Friday wear Pioneer gear for the Special Olympics.
• Seniors Early Release: All Seniors that are attending Prom and wish to leave early on 5/8/26 must have a completed Prom Early Release Form turned in to their team office by the end of the day Thursday. Forms are in the offices. On May 8^th all seniors that have turned in their form must sign out in the main or team 2/4 office after 11:16am (the end of 4^th period).
• Attention Seniors: Wednesday during extended homeroom you will have a senior meeting in the PAC. You must check in with your homeroom teacher at the start of extended homeroom before deading down to the PAC. Volunteers from the YWCA will be available in the PAC Lobby aftet the meeting to assist you in registering to vote. Please brin a photo ID and the last four digits of your social security number to register.
• Senior Clap Out: Attention Seniors: The sign up for the Senior Clap out is available on the Class of 2026 Google Classroom until Friday, May 15^th at 3pm.

 

FIRELANDS:

• AfterProm: This year’s Cinco De Mayo themed After Prom will be 10:45pm – 2:30am. Any FHS Junior or Senior are welcome to come. Outside guest and/or underclassmen are permitted only if they attended Prom. Tickets can only be purchased by a Junior or Senior. Tickets are $10 this year and can be purchased at lunch or through the main office.
• Scoop up a Sweet Treat for the Firelands FFA: Tomorrow (5/7) head over to the Avon, North Ridgeville, or Strongsville Culter’s and grab a scoop (or two!). 100% of the proceeds from every scoop sold will go directly back to our Firelands FFA Chapter to support student leadership, hands-on learning, and future opportunities!
• Student Council Movie Night: May 15^th the FHS Student Council will be hosting our 4^th annual movie night on the football field. Gates open at 7pm with the movie starting at dusk. Before the movie students can bring spike ball or other yard games to play. Each student will get a pop, water, pizza, and candy, paid for by Student Council. No outside food or beverages, no guest from other schools. Please RSVP and vote for the movie you want on Google Classroom.
• Senior Choir Farewell: The Firelands High School Senior Farewell Concert will be on May 11^th at 7pm. This concert is created by the Seniors with their chosen theme for the night and their favorite songs! Come out and support our choir seniors!
• Field Trip: The ROX field trip is TODAY!  All ROX and MOXIE girls please report to the Falcons Nest at 8am to get on the bus.

 

KEYSTONE

• Yearbooks: The KHS yearbook staff wants your photos from prom! Please send any pictures you would like to potentially have included in the 25-26 yearbook to Michael.hogue@keystonelocalschools.org
• ROX: Interested in joining Keystone’s Nationally Recognized ROX (Ruling Our Experience) Program? The ROX journey gives you a chance to grow in your confidence, communication skills, relationship building skills, and learn self-defense in addition to giving you a strong community of women dedicated to supporting each other. All applications are due by Friday, May 1^st at 2:30pm and will be blindly reviewed by the ROX Recruitment Committee.
• Dance Team: There is an information meeting for anyone interested in Dance Team on Tuesday, May 5^th at 6pm in room 123. See Ms. Heff if you have any questions.
• Attention Wildcats: Good News! We have open spots available for the upcoming field trip next Monday the 11^th to Walsh University and Akron University. Interested in attending?
• Environmental Club: Environmental Club will have a meeting on Wednesday May 6^th. We will meet in the greenhouse so please bring clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
• Air and Space Club Meeting: Our air & space club meeting with treats will be this Wednesday, May 6^th after school in Mr. Broad’s Room. Please attend for May updates of outings and field trips!  
• Attention Seniors: Seniors, Tuesday May 12^th is the last day for lunch charges. All lunch debt must be paid by Friday, May 15^th.

 

 

NORTH RIDGEVILLE

• Adaptive Fitness Yoga: Winter registration is open for adaptive aerobic classes on Thursday evening and yoga classes on Saturday mornings. Classes are held at Westlake High School To learn more click here or email Angela at adaptedfyp@gmail.com
• Grief Support: Grief Speaks is a website and resource bank created by grief expert Lisa Athan, MA. Lisa works as a grief therapist, as well as an advocate and educator around the country. Her website features information on topics such as children/adults on grief and about 50 other grief related topics. To access her website and learn more, go to our website.
• Youth with Complex Needs: The Ohio Department of Health’s Complex Medical Help Program (CMH) connects individuals with special health care needs to a network of medical providers and helps them obtain payment for needed services.
• Fitness Classes: Try a new fitness class through United We Sweat. FREE for all ages. Whether you enjoy Zumba, kickboxing or yoga, there’s something for everyone! Virtual and in-person classes are available.
• Therapeutic Art: Elyria Public Library has several therapeutic art groups for both teens and adults, run by a certified art therapist that are free to attend. They also offer several other crafting events too. Events may be held at their Central Branch or other locations throughout the county.
• Tutoring: Families with children on an IEP (Individualized Education Program) can apply now for free tutoring during the spring semester through Learning Aid Ohio. Learning Aid provides grant funding so that families can access one-to-one, in-person educational support for students. Learning Aid grants are open to students who are Ohio residents, on an IEP, and live in families whose household income is less than 400% of the federal poverty level.
