Here are few daily announcements to share:
Seniors who would like to audition to sing the National Anthem at Senior Recognition can see Mrs. West in Student Services. Auditions will be held the first week of May.

AMHERST:
- Scholarship Opportunities: The Amherst Schools Educational Foundation (ASEF) and the Amherst Local Community Scholarships are now open, offering 40+ scholarship opportunities for Steele Seniors planning their postsecondary path. The Amherst Police Departments Scholarship and Sayers Family Scholarship require separate applications. All other scholarships must be submitted through the designated Google Forms. Applications are detailed, so students should review requirements carefully and be prepared to upload all necessary documents at submission. Recipients will be recognized at the Honors & Awards Banquet on May 5. Thank you to our Amherst community for your continued support of our students.
- Senior Scholastic Awards Banquet: The Senior Scholastic Awards Banquet is May 5, 2026 at German’s Villa beginning at 6pm. Seniors who have earned special academic recognition or who are receiving an Amherst Scholarship will be invited to attend. Invitations will be sent to students in late April along with ticket information. Tickets for the banquet must be purchased. Reservations need to be made with Mrs. Cooney.
- Last Day and Final Exams for Seniors: The last day of classes for the Class of 2026 is Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Final Exams will be on Monday, May 18th and Tuesday, May 19th.
- A Night of Jazz, Food & Fun: Join the Steele & AJH bands for a fantastic evening on Friday, May 1st 2026 at 6:30 PM in the Marion L. Steele Cafetorium. Enjoy incredible performance by our Amherst Junior High and Steele High School jazz bands while savoring a delicious meal provided by Fligner’s. Tickets are $30 and included your dinner and beverages, plus you can check out our unique raffle baskets. Don’t miss this special night – get your tickets today and support our Jazz program. AVON:
- 2026 Commencement Ceremony: Avon High School’s 2026 Commencement Ceremony is taking place on Tuesday, May 26th, 2026.
- Class of 2026 Stay Connected: Order your purple cap & gown now! You can find the link on our website. Graduation is NOW Tuesday, May 26th at 7pm. Mark your calendars for the following dates: Senior DC Trip is March 18th-21st, Prom is Saturday, May 9th, Senior awards are May 18th, Senior Exams are May 18th-20th, Graduation Practice is May 22nd and Graduation is May 26th.
- Class of 2026 Brick by Brick: When working with the class leadership and knowing that we do not paint parking spaces or do some of the other school’s traditions, we created a NEW, awesome rite of passage for our seniors. Not to reference Pink Floyd, but our Seniors are more than another brick in the wall of the AHS Nest! Design your brick and we will add it to the wall. Purchase your vinyl sticker and follow the Canva directions in your Class of 2026 Google Classroom. Proceeds (after costs) go to the Class of 2026. These vinyl stickers can be taken with you as a memento.
- Prom: Prom will take place on Saturday, May 9th at 6:30-10:30 at the Cleveland Museum of Art located 1150 East Blvd., Cleveland, OH. Tickets will go on sale from April 13th-May1st. Sales will be online only. Please note: Seniors who have not met their fee obligations will not be able to purchase a ticket to prom. Each AHS senior may bring one guest. All prom guests who do not attend Avon High School must get prior authorization before attending prom. Guests must have a photo ID upon arrival to prom as well. Attire to prom is formal. Formal is defined as a full suit or tuxedo with tie, a full-length gown, and/or dress pants and a blouse.
- Summer Musical Auditions: Attention Students! Auditions for our first ever summer musical: Six Teen Education are coming up on May 18th at 3pm. Looking to get more information? Attend the informational meeting on April 20th at 3pm in the Auditorium and check out the flyers around the building. Any questions? See Mr. Moyseenko in the choir room.
- Special Olympics: Buddies needed!! Are you interested in being a buddy/volunteer for the Special Olympics on May 8th? If so, please use the link to sign up and find more details. A total of 42 volunteers are needed. The deadline is May 4th. Please see Ms. Cascarino for any questions you may have.
AVON LAKE
- Help Stock the ALHS Care Closet: The ALHS Care Closet is a community effort to care for our own. With your help, we provide students and families with essentials like coats, hygiene items, school supplies, AL gear, and snacks. We are currently running low on the below items. Individually wrapped snacks like granola bars, crackers, fruit snacks, or protein bars. New or gently used AL gear. Drop off donations at the Main Office to the attention of Kristin Action our Social Worker.
- Band Notes: The Avon Lake HS Band Program performed at the Ohio Music Education Association’s District 4 Large Group Adjudicated event and had much success! The Concert Band earned an “Excellent” rating, and the Symphonic Band earned a “Superior” rating and earned a “Superior” in Sight Reading. The ALHS Jazz Band will travel to Brookside HS on May 1st to participate in the Jazz fest (more to come!) The ALHS Band is currently preparing for their “Pops” Concert on May 7th at 7pm in the PAC. Admission to the concert will be $5 at the door. Our yearly “Band Kick-off: to prepare for the 26-27 Band year will be April 29th at 7pm in the PAC. All Band Parents and students are welcome! - Commencement Tickets: If you are in need of a handicap or wheelchair ticket, seniors should email Mrs. Gannon at amy.gannon@alcsoh.org to request a ticket. Please include the type of ticket needed (handicap or wheelchair) and the name of the person needing the ticket.
CLEARVIEW:
- Thought for the Month: “You never get a second chance to make a first good impression.”
- Prom Guest: If you are bringing a guest to prom who does NOT attend Clearview High School, you will need to have a guest form completed. Guest forms are available in the Main Office and are due back by Wednesday, May 6th.
- PROM: We are excited to announce Prom 2026, which will be held at the beautiful Valley of the Eagles on Friday, May 8th 2026, from 6pm-10pm. This year, there will be no After Prom. Instead, we’ll be hosting raffles throughout the evening, giving you the chance to win gift cards and fun prizes. Winners must be present to claim their prizes. The theme for this year’s prom is Old Hollywood, so get ready to walk the red carpet, brin the glam, and celebrate in classic movie-star style. Think elegance, sparkle, and timeless Hollywood flair. Tickets are $50 for a single and $100 for a couple. Tickets go on sale Monday, March 2nd and will be sold through Friday, May 1st. We can’t wait to see you all dressed to impress for a night of music, memories, and movie-star magic!

- Senior Walk at Vincent: Attention Seniors! The Senior Walk at Vincent is Tuesday, May 12th at 2pm! The Vincent Elementary students and your former teachers really look forward to seeing you all! It is also a special moment with your graduating class! Please wear your cap and gown. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Karr!
- Senior Exams: Senior Exams will be held on May 7th and May 11th. Make ups will be Tuesday, May 12th. Seniors ONLY need to report to school for their scheduled exam. Check your email or see your teachers…exam scheduled were emailed to your.
- Senior Deadlines: The deadline for Graduations Seals, Senior Contract, and Senior Faculty Exchange Paperwork is Friday, May 1st. Please make sure everything gets done in a timely manner! Graduation Seals aren’t completed on time, you WILL Not be able to walk at graduation.
- Summer Cleaners: Are you 16 years old and need a summer job? If so, Clearview Local Schools is hiring for summer cleaners. Apply on the school’s website under “Employment Opportunities”.
- Senior Steak Fry: Seniors… the tradition continues! The senior steak fry will be held on Wednesday, May 13th right after the Recognition Ceremony Practice. Cost is $10 for students (cash only) for either steak or chicken. Please see Ms. Campbell in the High School Office to sign up. Last day to sign up is Thursday, May 7th. This is for Seniors and Staff Only. Please note- you MUST purchase a ticket in order to attend this event.
- Girls Basketball Open Gym: Girl’s basketball will be starting open gyms on Tuesday, April 28th. They will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 3-4:30 until the end of May. See Coach Fisher with any questions.
- NHS Meeting: There will be a meeting on Monday, April 27th in room 109 from 2:43-3:12. Be sure to check classroom for details. All members need to be in attendance.
- Youth for Youth: Youth for youth will have a mini meeting after school TODAY in the counseling office. Let Mrs. Kazel know if you are unable to attend.
COLUMBIA:
- Graduation Application: Attention Seniors, your graduation application is due by Wednesday, April 29th. Copies are available in the main office.
- HS Choir and Concert Band: Join our HS Choir and Concert Band for their Spring Concert on Tuesday, April 28th at 7pm and CHS.
- Literature Club: Literature Club will meet on Tuesday, April 28th at 2:50 in Mrs. Taylor’s room.
- Prom/After prom: Prom is May 1st from 6pm-10pm at Columbia Ballroom. After prom is at Main Event from 11pm-2am. Bus transportation will be provided by CHS and mandatory to attend. Busdeparts at CHS 10:30pm and will beturn to CHS approximately 2:30am.
- Attention Seniors: Seniors NOT attending Prom must be present and wear Raider Gear for the Senior Panoramic Picture and Senior Superlatives from 7:45-9:00am. Seniors who are attending Prom must attending a mandatory Prom Meeting from 9am-9:30am in additional to being present and wearing Raider Gear for the Senior Panoramic Picture, Senior Superlatives staring at 7:45am.

- Color Guard Clinics and Auditions: Clinics will be held Monday and Tuesday, May 11-12 from 4pm-6pm. Auditions will be May 13th from 5:30-7:30. You must attend both clinics to audition. For more information, please contact Ty Coleman at tcoleman@clsdraiders.org.
- ESC of Lorain County Scholarship: ESC of Lorain County Scholarship applications are now available. Applicants must plan on pursuing a degree in education and must be entering their freshman year of college in Fall 2026 as a full-time student. Application deadline is May 1st. You can access the application on our website through the link.
- Certified Lifeguards Needed: Strongsville Rec needs certified lifeguards. Their starting pay rate is $14/hr with opportunities to earn up to $16/hr. Check out their website to apply under the human resource tab.
- Paid Internship: Lorain County Metro Parks is offering a PAID internship for high school students.

ELYRIA
- Special Olympic Volunteer: Volunteers Needed! We are still looking for a few more volunteers for Special Olympics on May 8th! Spots are limited and filling quickly – don’t miss your chance to be part of something meaningful! Pick up permission slips in Room 143.
- JROTC Can Food Drive: Help us fight hunger within our community? April 27th-May 1st, help JROTC with their service-learning project and donate non-perishable food items during your lunch period or whenever you pass through the lunchroom.
- Pioneer Golf Teams: Are you interested in Golfing for the EHS Golf Team? Come to our interest meeting after school in room 134, April 28th at 2:45. If you can’t make the meeting, see Coach Rainey in 134, before or after school. A current Physical must be on file in the athletic office to participate in any activities.
- Prom Tickets: Attention Seniors, the deadline to purchase Prom tickets is Thursday, April 30th. NO tickets will be sold after this date. Please remember fees have to be paid and guest forms have to be signed before you can purchase tickets. See Mrs. Anderle with questions.
- Camp Invention: Looking for something to do when school ends? Are you looking for volunteer hours? Do you like helping kids explore, learn and create? Join our team as we help “SPARK” elementary students creativity and invent! Fill out the interest form by scanning below to learn more! Please see Mrs. Smith in room 228 or Mr. West in the HUB for more information!
- New Free Driving School Opportunity: Attention students! The Climate Culture and Beliefs Committee has discovered another opportunity for you to go to driving school for FREE! The North Central Ohio Educational Service Center Drive to Succeed program is awarding scholarships for driving school to Lorain County residents that are 15 ½ years and 20 years old, have temporary permit, are SNAP recipient within last 12 months OR under county custody. If interested complete the application on our Class of Google Classroom! See Ms. Belcher or Debbie Huffman at dhuffman@ncoesc.org with any questions.
FIRELANDS:
- FHS Proudly Presents High School Musical: Come support our amazing cast & crew May 3rd @3pm for this fun, live performance of High School Musical! It’s packed with energy, music & Wildcat spirit that you won’t want to miss! Get your tickets now before they’re cone! Scan the QR codes posted around the school to purchase. Bring fried and family for a great show.
- Prom: Prom tickets are now on sale! Tickets are $55 each and will be available during lunch. This year’s Masquerade Prom will be held at New Russia Township Hall on May 9th from 6-10pm.
- Prom Guests: If you are planning on bringing an out-of-school guest, you need to start working on the guest form ASAP. All forms must be completed and turned in by May 4th. No late forms will be accepted for any reason. Forms can be found outside the main office.
- AfterProm: This is nacho average After Prom! Following prom this year, we will be celebrating Cinco De Mayo! Door to FHS will open at 10:45, lock at 11:15 and reopen at 2:30am. Of course, there will be a Taco Bar as well as an Ice Cream & Coffee Bar. Activites will include Karaoke, Inflatable Obstacle Course, Mechanical Bull, Casino games, Volleyball, Basketball and DJ. And don’t forget all the prizes: TVs, iPADS, CASH and More! Tickets are only $10 this year & go on sale TODAY at lunch.
- Attention Cheerleaders: This is the week to show us your Falcon Spirit! If you want to be part of the Firelands Cheer Squard you need to attend the mandatory tryout clinics being held today & tomorrow from 4-5:30pm, along with the official tryout date on Thursday, April 30th @ 3:30pm.
KEYSTONE
- Yearbooks: Yearbooks are now on sale! The only way to guarantee your copy of the 25-26 yearbook is to order in advance. Visit Jostens.com or scan the QR code on the sales posters around school.
- ROX: Interested in joining Keystone’s Nationally Recognized ROX (Ruling Our Experience) Program? The ROX journey gives you a chance to grow in your confidence, communication skills, relationship building skills, and learn self-defense in addition to giving you a strong community of women dedicated to supporting each other. All applications are due by Friday, May 1st at 2:30pm and will be blindly reviewed by the ROX Recruitment Committee.
- Dance Team: Dance Team tryout packets are now available in the office. See Ms. Heff if you have questions.
- BBQ Club: There is a BBQ club meeting after school on Tuesday in Ms. Heff’s room.
NORTH RIDGEVILLE
- Adaptive Fitness Yoga: Winter registration is open for adaptive aerobic classes on Thursday evening and yoga classes on Saturday mornings. Classes are held at Westlake High School To learn more click here or email Angela at adaptedfyp@gmail.com
- Grief Support: Grief Speaks is a website and resource bank created by grief expert Lisa Athan, MA. Lisa works as a grief therapist, as well as an advocate and educator around the country. Her website features information on topics such as children/adults on grief and about 50 other grief related topics. To access her website and learn more, go to our website.
- Youth with Complex Needs: The Ohio Department of Health’s Complex Medical Help Program (CMH) connects individuals with special health care needs to a network of medical providers and helps them obtain payment for needed services.
- Fitness Classes: Try a new fitness class through United We Sweat. FREE for all ages. Whether you enjoy Zumba, kickboxing or yoga, there’s something for everyone! Virtual and in-person classes are available.
- Therapeutic Art: Elyria Public Library has several therapeutic art groups for both teens and adults, run by a certified art therapist that are free to attend. They also offer several other crafting events too. Events may be held at their Central Branch or other locations throughout the county.
- Tutoring: Families with children on an IEP (Individualized Education Program) can apply now for free tutoring during the spring semester through Learning Aid Ohio. Learning Aid provides grant funding so that families can access one-to-one, in-person educational support for students. Learning Aid grants are open to students who are Ohio residents, on an IEP, and live in families whose household income is less than 400% of the federal poverty level.
Wellington
- Attention Students: Students, please check your school email to see if you have received overdue library book notice. Books can be returned or renewed at any time throughout the school day.
