Here are few daily announcements to share:

Senior Speaker Competition: Your LCJVS experience has been like no other. YOU are a key part of the LCJVS Career Tech family. Share your experiences and inspire your classmates as the Senior Speaker at the LCJVS Class of 2026 Senior Recognition Ceremony. Enter the Competition today!  Submit an ORIGINAL scripted speech 5-7 minutes in length for consideration that: Represents the values, mission and purpose of Lorain County JVS, speaks to your student experience, and honors the trades! Finalists will be selected from submitted manuscripts. Selected individuals will deliver their speech to a panel of judges for selection. Turn in entries to Student Services by Friday, April 24, 2026. Questions can be directed to Mrs. Champagne via email to mchampagne@lcjvs.net.

AMHERST:

• Medtech Recognized: Amherst Steele’s Medical Technology students were recently recognized by Impact Teen Drivers at the Impact Teen Drivers Biannual Appreciation Luncheon 2025 for their efforts over the past five years to raise awareness about safe teen driving. Alongside Mrs. Kim Haney, the students were honored among community leaders, educators, and advocates from across the country who are working to reduce teen driver crashes and promote safety. Their work continues to make an impact – Mrs. Haney and two students have also been invited to present at the Lifesavers Conference on Roadway safety Baltimore this April. The Medical Health Technology students are now planning their Spring Safe Teen Driving Campaign. If you are interested in supporting the initiative, please contact Mrs. Haney at kin-haney@amherstk12.org. Thank you to Mrs. Haney and our students for helping to promote safer roads and stronger communities.
• Scholarship Opportunities: The Amherst Schools Educational Foundation (ASEF) and the Amherst Local Community Scholarships are now open, offering 40+ scholarship opportunities for Steele Seniors planning their postsecondary path. The Amherst Police Departments Scholarship and Sayers Family Scholarship require separate applications. All other scholarships must be submitted through the designated Google Forms. Applications are detailed, so students should review requirements carefully and be prepared to upload all necessary documents at submission. Recipients will be recognized at the Honors & Awards Banquet on May 5. Thank you to our Amherst community for your continued support of our students.
• Senior Scholastic Awards Banquet: The Senior Scholastic Awards Banquet is May 5, 2026 at German’s Villa beginning at 6pm. Seniors who have earned special academic recognition or who are receiving an Amherst Scholarship will be invited to attend. Invitations will be sent to students in late April along with ticket information. Tickets for the banquet must be purchased. Reservations need to be placed with Mrs. Cooney.
• Last Day and Final Exams for Seniors: The last day of classes for the Class of 2026 is Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Final Exams will be on Monday, May 18^th and Tuesday, May 19^th.

AVON:

• 2026 Commencement Ceremony: Avon High School’s 2026 Commencement Ceremony is taking place on Tuesday, May 26^th, 2026.
• Class of 2026 Stay Connected: Order your purple cap & gown now! You can find the link on our website. Graduation is NOW Tuesday, May 26^th at 7pm. Mark your calendars for the following dates: Senior DC Trip is March 18^th-21^st, Prom is Saturday, May 9^th, Senior awards are May 18^th, Senior Exams are May 18^th-20^th, Graduation Practice is May 22^nd and Graduation is May 26^th.
• Class of 2026 Brick by Brick: When working with the class leadership and knowing that we do not paint parking spaces or do some of the other school’s traditions, we created a NEW, awesome rite of passage for our seniors. Not to reference Pink Floyd, but our Seniors are more than another brick in the wall of the AHS Nest! Design your brick and we will add it to the wall. Purchase your vinyl sticker and follow the Canva directions in your Class of 2026 Google Classroom. Proceeds (after costs) go to the Class of 2026. These vinyl stickers can be taken with you as a memento.
• Prom: Prom will take place on Saturday, May 9^th at 6:30-10:30 at the Cleveland Museum of Art located 1150 East Blvd., Cleveland, OH. Tickets will go on sale from April 13^th-May1st. Sales will be online only. Please note: Seniors who have not met their fee obligations will not be able to purchase a ticket to prom. Each AHS senior may bring one guest. All prom guests who do not attend Avon High School must get prior authorization before attending prom. Guests must have a photo ID upon arrival to prom as well. Attire to prom is formal. Formal is defined as a full suit or tuxedo with tie, a full-length gown, and/or dress pants and a blouse.
• Senior Awards Night: Avon High School’s Senior Awards Nigh is on Monday, May 18^th at 6pm in the Avon Performing Center. The accomplishments of the Class of 2026 will be highlighted, and this includes the awarding of numerous scholarships. Teams who compete that evening often arrive at the program in their baseball, softball, or track uniforms. Dropping in post competition is completely acceptable. Students receiving recognition will be sent an invitation. Recipients are expected to attend. Senior awards night is a dress-up occasion. Seniors commonly wear dress pants and a shirt and tie, and/or dresses/skirts, etc. Please make sure to wear shoes that you are comfortable wearing while climbing steps and crossing a stage. Additionally, please be modest in attire as this is an esteemed ceremony. Warning: the PAC stage is high above the ground and short skirts are too revealing to the front rows. As the event will take place in the Performing Arts Center, there is not a limit to the number of guests seniors may bring to this event. It is common to have a parent, grandparent or even siblings as guests. 
• Social Media: Own your Brand. Heads up! Colleges do not have to take you. Athletic commitments are revokable. Scholarships are revocable. Admittance is revocable. OWN YOUR BRAND! Everything you share or comment on in regard to social media is public, not protected, and should be considered front page material. Nothing on social media is ever private.

AVON LAKE

• Help Stock the ALHS Care Closet: The ALHS Care Closet is a community effort to care for our own. With your help, we provide students and families with essentials like coats, hygiene items, school supplies, AL gear, and snacks. We are currently running low on the below items. Individually wrapped snacks like granola bars, crackers, fruit snacks, or protein bars. New or gently used AL gear. Drop off donations at the Main Office to the attention of Kristin Action our Social Worker.  
• Drama Club News: Fame. Faith. Betrayal. The greatest story ever rocked. Join the ALHS Drama Club for the Spring musical Jesus Christ Superstar. What’s the buzz? The first musical by Time Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber to be produced for the professional stage, Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for over 50 years. A timeless work, the rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follow the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Juda, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire. The iconic 1970’s rock score contains such well-known numbers as “Superstar”, “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” and “Gethsemane.” A true global phenomenon and perfect pick for schools, community theaters and professionals alike, Superstar continues to touch new generations of audiences and performers.  Show Times are April 16^th, 17^th and 18^th at 7pm and Sunday April 19^th at 2pm.  

CLEARVIEW:

 

• Thought for the Month: “You never get a second chance to make a first good impression.”
• Prom Guest: If you are bringing a guest to prom who does NOT attend Clearview High School, you will need to have a guest form completed. Guest forms are available in the Main Office and are due back by Wednesday, May 6^th.  
• PROM: We are excited to announce Prom 2026, which will be held at the beautiful Valley of the Eagles on Friday, May 8^th 2026, from 6pm-10pm. This year, there will be no After Prom. Instead, we’ll be hosting raffles throughout the evening, giving you the chance to win gift cards and fun prizes. Winners must be present to claim their prizes. The theme for this year’s prom is Old Hollywood, so get ready to walk the red carpet, brin the glam, and celebrate in classic movie-star style. Think elegance, sparkle, and timeless Hollywood flair. Tickets are $50 for a single and $100 for a couple. Tickets go on sale Monday, March 2^nd and will be sold through Friday, May 1^st. We can’t wait to see you all dressed to impress for a night of music, memories, and movie-star magic!

• Senior Apparel Order Form: Attention Seniors! Senior apparel order forms are due Friday, April 17^th! We need to purchase a minimum of 25 items in order to place the order! Remember to please drop off order forms and money (CASH ONLY) to the Counseling office.
• Ohio State Testing: State Testing will begin on Monday, April 20^th. All students were emailed before spring break the exams they need to take. If you are NOT testing, please be sure to check the testing schedule as to when you need to be at school. See your Counselor with any questions.
• Military Enlistment: Any Senior that has officially enlisted and sworn in to the military needs to let your school counselor or Mrs. Jackson know by Thursday, April 16^th! We need to make sure we have enough military cords for those that are earning them. We also need this information in order to contact your recruiter for the Senior Recognition Assembly.  
• Summer Cleaners: Are you 16 years old and need a summer job? If so, Clearview Local Schools is hiring for summer cleaners. Apply on the school’s website under “Employment Opportunities”.
• College Now: College Now is offering FREE Spring Break field trips for 10^th and 11^th graders. Destinations include Mansfield OSU, the Cleeland Museum of Art and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and Topgolf. Food and transportation are included. To sign up, see Miss B in the College Now Office next to Room 202.

COLUMBIA:

• 2026 Yearbook Sales: The CHS yearbook staff is working hard to capture the essence of what it means to be a student this year, and we’re proud of the way the yearbook is coming together. To purchase, buy online by clicking on the link here: Note: We do not order many extra yearbooks to guarantee a yearbook, preorder your student a copy today!
• In Need of Service Hours: Work concessions for track teams on Wednesday, 4/15 (CMS Track) and Wednesday 4/22 (CHS Track). Report to the field at 3:45 and stay until the event is complete. (Approx 3-4 hours). Email Mrs. Andrews if you are able to help.
• Columbia Service Club: April 15^th at 2:50 in Room 18.
• SADD Meeting: SADD will meet April 16^th from 2:50-3:25 in Room 8.
• NHS Blood Drive: The NHS Blood Drive will be Friday, April 17^th. Please sign up to donate blood this Friday and help save lives! All donors will receive a $15 e-Gift Card. Follow the QR code of the flyer to sign up to donate. Share this with other family/community members to donate as well! Students must be 16 to donate. 16 year olds must also get a parental consent form from Mr. Maykut to donate (17+ do not need parental consent). See Mr. Maykut if you have questions. 
• Music in Our Schools: The annual Music in Our Schools will be Saturday, April 25^th. Doors open at 5pm. Please join us for a night of fun with performances from our band and choir students, raffles, our ever famous cake raffle and dinner.
• Senior Exit Survey: Seniors, please complete this Senior Exit Survey by April 20^th.

• Certified Lifeguards Needed: Strongsville Rec is in need of certified lifeguards. Their starting pay rate is $14/hr with opportunities to earn up to $16/hr. Check out their website to apply under the human resource tab.
• Paid Internship: Lorain County Metro Parks is offering a PAID internship for high school students.

ELYRIA

• Special Olympic Volunteer: Our Special Olympics event will be held on May 8^th, and we are looking for volunteers to help make the day a success. Volunteers will assist with activities, support athletes, and help with event organization. If you are interested in volunteering, please stop by Room 143 to pick up a permission slip. Please know that May 8^th is also Prom, so plan accordingly. No experience is needed – just bring a positive attitude and willingness to help. Come be part of an inspiring day supporting our amazing athletes!
• Attention Seniors: Prom tickets will be on sale from March 30^th – April 30^th on the EHS Athletics website and in-person from Mrs. Anderle. Tickets are $35, and fees must be paid before you can purchase a ticket.
• Senior Class Speaker Auditions: Attention Seniors. If you are interested in writing a speech and auditioning for Senior Class Speaker at Graduation, see Mrs. Anderle by April 24^th to pick up the information.
• Link Leader Recruitment: Attention sophomores and juniors – are you a positive role model? Willing to lead? Helpful and enthusiastic? If so, you would make a great Link Leader! If you are interested in joining the 26-27 Link Crew, you must attend a mandatory info meeting on Monday, April 20^th from 7:15-7:45am or 2:45-3:15 in room 239. If you cannot attend either session, you must see Ms. Prechtel in room 121 before April 20^th.
• Summer School: Summer School registration is now open for current 11^th graders. This priority registration will be available for current 11^th grade students through April 24. In order to be fully registered, you must complete the Google Form emailed to families on Monday, 4/13 and make your summer school payment in the main office at EhS between 7:15 and 3:15 Monday through Friday. Payment is accepted in the form of cash, money order, or cashier’s check. Registration will open to current 9^th and 10^th graders on April 27^th and registration will close on Friday, May 15, or when all spots are filled; payment is due no later than May 22^nd.
• Chess Club: Good Morning Pioneers, chess club is back this week in room 306W after school until 4pm. All are welcome, we will see you there!

 

FIRELANDS:

• Fine Arts Festival: Get ready Firelands! The annual Fine Arts Festival will be Saturday, April 25^th from Noon-4, AND you don’t have to be a current art student to leave your mark! There are several ways to participate: Need volunteer hours? Sign up to help work the show at times that are best for you. Interested in selling your own creations? Apply for a booth at the Artist Market. Want an opportunity to perform for the Fireland community? Auditions are virtual! Link to all the above can be found in the Fine Arts Festival Google Classroom. See the posters outside the art room or Mrs. Cooper for access.
• Falcon Pride Raffle: We will have this week’s Falcon Pride Raffle Friday! This year we will be having PRIDE Cart Raffles weekly. You will have until 12:30 this Friday to enter to win! There will be one winner drawn from each grade level! If you have any questions, please email Mr. Taylor!
• Spring College Visit: Interested in attending the spring college visit hosted by College Now? Students in grades 10-12 are invited to tour Kent State University and Malone University on Thursday, April 30^th. Please sign up using the link found on Google Classroom. Transportation from FHS to home must be provided as we will not return in time for buses (will arrive to FHS campus around 3:30)
• Stump the Staff Trivia Night: Are you smarter than the staff members?  On Thursday April 23^rd teams of 4 will be able to play Trivia Against the Staff. Winning Teams will receive cash and Spirit Points. All teams playing will earn 20 spirit points for their grade. Snacks and Drinks will be provided. Sign up your team in Google Classroom.

KEYSTONE

• Paid Internship: Lorain County Metro Parks is offering a PAID internship for high school students.
• State Testing: State Testing will be Thursday April 16^th and Friday, April 17^th. The cafeteria will be open for breakfast and ala carte sales from 7am to 7:25 and again from 9am-9:25 only.
• Belle Voci: Any student wishing to audition for Belle Voci for the 26-27 school year needs to sign up for an audition time slot with Mrs. Pearce. Belle Voci is our honors-level choir, and you must have one year of experience in HS or MS band or choir in order to audition. Audition sign-ups and information sheets are posted outside of the KHS music room. See Mrs. Pearce if you have any questions.
• Safety Town: Interested in working at Safety Town this summer? Safety Town is June 15^th-18^th from 8:30-11:30 am at the LaGrange Police Department. See Senorita for an application if you are interested in this volunteer opportunity.

 

NORTH RIDGEVILLE

• Adaptive Fitness Yoga: Winter registration is open for adaptive aerobic classes on Thursday evening and yoga classes on Saturday mornings. Classes are held at Westlake High School To learn more click here or email Angela at adaptedfyp@gmail.com
• Grief Support: Grief Speaks is a website and resource bank created by grief expert Lisa Athan, MA. Lisa works as a grief therapist, as well as an advocate and educator around the country. Her website features information on topics such as children/adults on grief and about 50 other grief related topics. To access her website and learn more, go to our website.
• Youth with Complex Needs: The Ohio Department of Health’s Complex Medical Help Program (CMH) connects individuals with special health care needs to a network of medical providers and helps them obtain payment for needed services.
• Fitness Classes: Try a new fitness class through United We Sweat. FREE for all ages. Whether you enjoy Zumba, kickboxing or yoga, there’s something for everyone! Virtual and in-person classes are available.
• Therapeutic Art: Elyria Public Library has several therapeutic art groups for both teens and adults, run by a certified art therapist that are free to attend. They also offer several other crafting events too. Events may be held at their Central Branch or other locations throughout the county.
• Tutoring: Families with children on an IEP (Individualized Education Program) can apply now for free tutoring during the spring semester through Learning Aid Ohio. Learning Aid provides grant funding so that families can access one-to-one, in-person educational support for students. Learning Aid grants are open to students who are Ohio residents, on an IEP, and live in families whose household income is less than 400% of the federal poverty level.
