Here are few daily announcements to share:

Scholarship Application: Lorain County JVS Combined Scholarship Application is now available on the JVS website and with Mrs. West in Student Services. Completed applications are due to Mrs. West in Student Services by March 30, 2026. No late applications will be accepted.

AMHERST:

• Free Breakfast: Starting January 6, 2026, all K-12 Amherst students will be eligible for a free breakfast. Each meal includes the main entrée of the day, 2 frit choices, and milk. Please remind your students to know their 6-digit student number to receive breakfast.

 

AVON:

• 2026 Commencement Ceremony: Avon High School’s 2026 Commencement Ceremony is taking place on Tuesday, May 26^th, 2026.
• Class of 2026 Stay Connected: Order your purple cap & gown now! You can find the link on our website. Graduation is NOW Tuesday, May 26^th at 7pm. Mark your calendars for the following dates: Senior DC Trip is March 18^th-21^st, Prom is Saturday, May 9^th, Senior awards are May 18^th, Senior Exams are May 18^th-20^th, Graduation Practice is May 22^nd and Graduation is May 26^th.
• Class of 2026 Brick by Brick: When working with the class leadership, and knowing that we do not paint parking spaces or do some of the other school’s traditions, we created a NEW, awesome rite of passage for our seniors. Not to reference Pink Floyd, but our Seniors are more than another brick in the wall of the AHS Nest! Design your brick and we will add it to the wall. Purchase your vinyl sticker and follow the Canva directions in your Class of 2026 Google Classroom. Proceeds (after costs) go to the Class of 2026. These vinyl stickers can be taken with you as a memento.
• Art Club: Attention Art Club members. Please join us at our next meeting on Wednesday, March 18^th after school in room 160. We will have DIY lamp kits for you to assemble and decorate. Kits are limited, so please complete the RSVP Google form to reserve yours. Hope to see you there!
• Prom: Prom will take place on Saturday, May 9^th at 6:30-10:30 at the Cleveland Museum of Art located 1150 East Blvd., Cleveland, OH. Tickets will go on sale from April 13^th-May1st. Sales will be online only. Please note: Seniors who have not met their fee obligations will not be able to purchase a ticket to prom. Each AHS senior may bring one guest. All prom guests who do not attend Avon High School must get prior authorization before attending prom. Guests must have a photo ID upon arrival to prom as well. Attire to prom is formal. Formal is defined as a full suit or tuxedo with tie, a full length gown, and/or dress pants and a blouse.
• Senior Awards Night: Avon High School’s Senior Awards Nigh is on Monday, May 18^th at 6pm in the Avon Performing Center. The accomplishments of the Class of 2026 will be highlighted and this includes the awarding of numerous scholarships. Teams who compete that evening often arrive at the program in their baseball, softball, or track uniforms. Dropping in post competition is completely acceptable. Students receiving a recognition will be sent an invitation. Recipients are expected to attend. Senior awards night is a dress-up occasion. Seniors commonly wear dress pants and a shirt and tie, and/or dresses/skirts, etc. Please make sure to wear shoes that you are comfortable wearing while climbing steps and crossing a stage. Additionally, please be modest in attire as this is an esteemed ceremony. Warning: the PAC stage is high above the ground and short skirts are too revealing to the front rows. As the event will take place in the Performing Arts Center, there is not a limit to the number of guests seniors may bring to this event. It

 

AVON LAKE

• Help Stock the ALHS Care Closet: The ALHS Care Closet is a community effort to care for our own. With your help, we provide students and families with essentials like coats, hygiene items, school supplies, AL gear, and snacks. We are currently running low on the below items. Individually wrapped snacks like granola bars, crackers, fruit snacks, or protein bars. New or gently used AL gear. Drop off donations at the Main Office to the attention of Kristin Action our Social Worker.  
• Drama Club News: Fame. Faith. Betrayal. The greatest story ever rocked. Join the ALHS Drama Club for the Spring musical Jesus Christ Superstar. What’s the buzz? The first musical by Time Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber to be produced for the professional stage, Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for over 50 years. A timeless work, the rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follow the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Juda, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire. The iconic 1970’s rock score contains such well-known numbers as “Superstar”, “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” and “Gethsemane.” A true global phenomenon and perfect pick for schools, community theaters and professionals alike, Superstar continues to touch new generations of audiences and performers.  Show Times are April 16^th, 17^th and 18^th at 7pm and Sunday April 19^th at 2pm.  
• Senior Graduation Speaker: Do you want the opportunity to speak at graduation about your past experiences with Avon Lake City Schools? Do you want to highlight special people and events that have touched your life during your educational career? Do you want to share cherished memories with your fellow graduates and their families at the ceremony? Well, if these things interest you, we are looking for a 2026 graduate to address their classmates during the graduation ceremony as the Senior Speaker!  Your fully written speech must be submitted to Mr. Slabodnick (adam.slabodnick@alcsoh.org) via Google Documents by Friday, March 20^th. It must be no longer than 5 minutes in length. Auditions will be held during 8^th period on Friday, March 27^th in the TV Productions Studio. Mr. Slabodnick will contact you with your time.

 

CLEARVIEW:

 

• Thought for the Month: “Educating children is teaching them how to get along without us.”
• Prom Guest: If you are bring a guest to prom who does NOT attend Clearview High School, you will need to have a guest form completed. Guest forms are available in the Main Office and are due back by Wednesday, May 6^th.  
• PROM: We are excited to announce Prom 2026, which will be held at the beautiful Valley of the Eagles on Friday, May 8^th 2026, from 6pm-10pm. This year, there will be no After Prom. Instead, we’ll be hosting raffles throughout the evening, giving you the chance to win gift cards and fun prizes. Winners must be present to claim their prizes. The theme for this year’s prom is Old Hollywood, so get ready to walk the red carpet, brin the glam, and celebrate in classic movie-star style. Think elegance, sparkle, and timeless Hollywood flair. Tickets are $50 for a single and $100 for a couple. Tickets go on sale Monday, March 2^nd and will be sold through Friday, May 1^st. We can’t wait to see you all dressed to impress for a night of music, memories, and movie-star magic!
• Scholarship Deadline: Attention Seniors! The deadline for all Clearview Local Scholarships is Friday, March 20^th. All of these scholarships have been sent via the Senior Class Google Classroom, they were also emailed to you, and are located on our school website. Please stop by the counseling office if you need a scholarship printed or if you need help!
• Blood Drive: Be a hero. You can help save as many as three lives with just one blood donation. Stop by Room 109 – and sign up to give blood – You must be at least 16 years old. All of those who donate blood have a chance to win $200 visa gift card or 2 tickets to Cedar Point. DONOTE TO WIN!

 

COLUMBIA:

 

• 2026 Yearbook Sales: The CHS yearbook staff is working hard to capture the essence of what it means to be a student this year, and we’re proud of the way the yearbook is coming together. To purchase, buy online by clicking on the link here: Note: We do not order many extra yearbooks to guarantee a yearbook, preorder your student a copy today!
• College Credit Plus: The Deadline for College Credit Plus (CCP) is April 1, 2026. The detailed information on the requirements is in the CCP Notification letter that was sent out.

• Seniors: Caps and Gowns that were not picked up on March 11^th are at Columbia High School.
• Spring Musical: Please join us for our Spring Musical Chicago: Tean Edition on March 26^th-28^th!  Some content may not be appropriate for all ages. Tickets can be found on Columbia’s Hometown Ticketing Website. Don’t miss our biggest production yet.
• Certified Lifeguards Needed: Strongsville Rec is in need of certified lifeguards. Their starting pay rate is $14/hr with opportunities to earn up to $16/hr. Check out their website to apply under the human resource tab.

 

ELYRIA

• Voter Registration: Students! If you will be 18 years old by THIS November 3^rd (2026), you can vote for candidates (not issues) in the May primary. Come see Mrs. Runion in room 126 to register on paper (and get help if needed), OR you can register online. If you want to vote in the May primary, you must register by April 6^th.
• Elyria Safety Town Student Volunteers Needed: The Elyria Parks & Recreation Department is looking for student volunteers to work with children registered for Safety Town. Safety Town has become an annual summer educational program for children who will be attending Kindergarten in the fall of 2026. Eligible student volunteers must have completed the 5^th grade or higher at the end of the 2026 school year. Applications are due by Friday, April 24^th. Pick up an application at Elyria City Hall or the Main Office or visit our website.
• St. Patrick’s Day: Make sure to wear green on Tuesday, March 17^th for our pop-up spirit day! You can ear spirit points for your grade level!
• French Club Spring Event: Are you excited for the First Day of Spring? Join French Club after school March 20^th in Room 121 until 4pm to make crepes! You do not need to be in French Club to attend and there will be drinks provided.
• Strive: Attention STRIVE Members – Our last STRIVE meeting is Thursday, March 19^th in the PAC lobby starting promptly at 7:50 AM. We will be conducting interview for the STRIVE scholarships in May (TBA)
• Choir Department Large Group Results: The weekend of March 6^th and 7^th the Elyria High School Choir Department hosted The OMEA Large Group Choir Event where 28^th choirs participated. Our A Cappella choir performed at class A and received a superior rating 1 (the highest rating) and Treble Choir performed at class C and also received a superior rating as well! Both of the ensembles and thank you to all of the volunteers that took part in running this event!
• Special Olympic Volunteer: Our Special Olympics event will be held on May 8^th, and we are looking for volunteers to help make the day a success. Volunteers will assist with activities, support athletes, and help with event organization. If you are interested in volunteering, please stop by Room 143 to pick up a permission slip. Please not that May 8^th is also Prom, so plan accordingly. No experience is needed – just bring a positive attitude and willingness to help. Come be part of an inspiring day supporting our amazing athletes!
• Marvel Madness Elite 8: We are now down to the Elite 8 in Marvel Madness! Check out the bracket to see if your hero has made it to the next round! Find the QR codes posted around the school to vote for the winning hero! May the best hero win!
• Tech Corps: Attention 10^th & 11^th graders. Tech Corps is hosting a web development with a paid, hands-on pre-apprenticeship June 22-July 31^st at Lorain High School. Students must be 16 years old by June 1, 2026 to be eligible. Please see the flier posted in the Class of 2027 and Class of 2028 Google Classrooms.
• Chess Club: No Chess Club this Thursday. With conferences on this Thursday, we will not have Chess club. We will be back at it next week.

 

FIRELANDS:

• Falcon Pride Raffle: We will have this week’s Falcon PRIDE Raffle on Friday! Don’t forget to enter the raffle by going to the PBIS Rewards app using Clever and use your points to enter. You will have until 12:30 on Friday to enter to win! There will be one winner drawn from each grade level! If you have any questions, please email Mr. Taylor.
• Fine Arts Festival: Get ready Firelands! The annual Fine Arts Festival will be Saturday, April 25^th from Noon-4, AND you don’t have to be a current art student to leave your mark! There are several ways to participate: Need volunteer hours? Sign up to help work the show at times that are best for you. Interested in selling your own creations? Apply for a booth at the Artist Market. Want an opportunity to perform for the Fireland community? Auditions are virtual! Link to all the above can be found in the Fine Arts Festival Google Classroom. See the posters outside the art room or Mrs. Cooper for access.
• Attention Cheerleaders: Think you have the spirit? Join us for our first Open Gym. THIS Thursday f rom 4-5:30 in the AUX Gym. There will be 2 additional Open Gym’s April 2^nd & April 16^th. These will be followed by a mandatory Tryout Clinics April 27^th & 28^th from 4-5:30pm with the official tryout date of April 30^th @ 3:30. KEYSTONE

• Prom Dresses: Looking for an affordable dress option for prom this year? How about getting ahead on next year’s Homecoming dress? Have any summer events you need a dress for? Stop by the ROX Leadership’s Dress Closet after school on Wednesday, March 18^th. We are also accepting donations from any wildcat girls looking to clean out their closet.
• March Madness Tournament: Join the KHS March Madness tournament. Fill out a men’s NCAA March Madness bracket via the link in your email or the QR codes around the school. Each enter is $5, and the winner will receive a personally engraved trophy! The last day to sign up is March 19^th before the games begin.
• Seniors: Today is the LAST DAY to vote for your Senior Superlatives. Voting polls can be found in your email.
• Class Officers: Interested in running to be a Class Officer next year? Applications are live-all application materials are due by 2:30 on April 10^th. Expectation contracts are available in the front office. See your class advisor if you have questions.
• Air & Space Club: The Air & Space Club will be meeting on Wednesday, March 18^th after school in Mr. Broad’s room. We will be doing a trivia game, along with updates on upcoming field trips.
• Senior Faculty Game: Come support your class by attending the Senior vs. Faculty game on March 19^th at 6pm. Entry to the event is $5.

NORTH RIDGEVILLE

• Adaptive Fitness Yoga: Winter registration is open for adaptive aerobic classes on Thursday evening and yoga classes on Saturday mornings. Classes are held at Westlake High School To learn more click here or email Angela at adaptedfyp@gmail.com
• Grief Support: Grief Speaks is a website and resource bank created by grief expert Lisa Athan, MA. Lisa works as a grief therapist, as well as an advocate and educator around the country. Her website features information on topics such as children/adults on grief and about 50 other grief related topics. To access her website and learn more, go to our website.
• Wellness: Sometimes we feel the holiday hangover. Our days are filled with loss, stress, depression and maybe a little anger too. The Cuyahoga Alcohol, Drug Addiction, Mental Health Services Board has put together a book with practical strategies if you find yourself starting to feel down. Topics include grief, loss, change, stress, recovery, sadness, and financial strain for both adults and teens. Check it out!
• Youth with Complex Needs: The Ohio Department of Health’s Complex Medical Help Program (CMH) connects individuals with special health care needs to a network of medical providers and helps them obtain payment for needed services.
• Fitness Classes: Try a new fitness class through United We Sweat. FREE for all ages. Whether you enjoy Zumba, kickboxing or yoga, there’s something for everyone! Virtual and in-person classes available.
• Therapeutic Art: Elyria Public Library has several therapeutic art groups for both teens and adults, run by a certified art therapist that are free to attend. They also offer several other crafting events too. Events may be held at their Central Branch or other locations throughout the county.
• Tutoring: Families with children on an IEP (Individualized Education Program) can apply now for free tutoring during the spring semester through Learning Aid Ohio. Learning Aid provides grant funding so that families can access one-to-one, in-person educational support for students. Learning Aid grants are open to students who are Ohio residents, on an IEP, and live in families whose household income is less than 400% of the federal poverty level.
