AMHERST:
- Free Breakfast: Starting January 6, 2026, all K-12 Amherst students will be eligible for a free breakfast. Each meal includes the main entrée of the day, 2 frit choices, and milk. Please remind your students to know their 6-digit student number to receive breakfast.
AVON:
- 2026 Commencement Ceremony: Avon High School’s 2026 Commencement Ceremony is taking place on Tuesday, May 26th, 2026.
- Model UN Conference: The Model United Nations conference is coming up. There will be plenty of food and fun. If you are already a member of Model UN sign up in google classroom. If not, don’t hesitate to join the Google Classroom site and register. There are plenty of upperclassmen with lots of experience who can help with the conference preparation process, and the conferences are always a lot of fun.
- Attention Juniors: Juniors and their parents/guardians are invited to join the counselors in the AHS Performing Arts Center for a presentation reviewing the college application process and preparing for senior year. The presentation will take place on Thursday, January 8th at 6pm in the Performing Arts Center.
- Class of 2026 Stay Connected: Order your purple cap & gown now! You can find the link on our website. Graduation is NOW Tuesday, May 26th at 7pm. Mark your calendars for the following dates: Senior DC Trip is March 18th-21st, Prom is Saturday, May 9th, Senior awards are May 18th, Senior Exams are May 18th-20th, Graduation Practice is May 22nd and Graduation is May 26th.
AVON LAKE
- Drama Club News: Avon Lake High School Drama Club Calendar Fundraiser. Avon Lake Drama Boosters is the supporting organization for the ALHS Drama Program. We use funds to supplement theater improvements, feed our cast and crew, and many other ways that help make our productions extra special! For this fundraiser, the students are seeking people to “sponsor.
CLEARVIEW:

COLUMBIA:
- Student Council Malley Chocolate Bars: Malley’s Chocolate Bars are for sale in main office for $2.00
- Scholarship Information: Community Foundation of Lorain County Scholarship Portal opened Friday, January 1st.
- Seniors: Schedule an appointment to meet with Miss Neff/Ms. MacDonald. Transcripts are sent through Schoolinks. Log in through Clever. The FAFSA is now open. Need help? See Miss Neff or Ms. Vega Hamilton.
- Juniors: PSAT results are in. If you didn’t receive a link from College Board, please see Miss Neff. The ST is Thursday, March 5th at CHS.
- Sophmores: LCJVS Career Days Field Trip will be January 29th; permissions are due NOW to guidance
- Freshman: All freshmen participated in the Graduation Seals they would like to earn as their graduation requirement. Please complete the Google form sent by Miss Neff ASAP!
- Science Fair: The Columbia Science Fair will tbd due to snow days. Good Luck to all students participating.
- French Classes Bake Sale: Thursday January 22nd will be the bake sale. Featuring Goldies M&M and S’mores cookies, and many other treats. Check it out before and after school on Thursday
- Literature Club: Literature Club will meet Tuesday, January 27th from 2:50-3:40pm.
- SAT Prep Workshop: CHS has partnered with the Kelly Maclean Achievement Center to offer five SAT Prep. Group-based, personalized SAT preparation. Students raise their scores by 150-250 points on Average. Cost is $195 and dates are 2/4,2/11,2/18, 2/25, and 3/4 from 3-4:30pm in CHS Rm. 11. All CHS Juniors will be taking the SAT on March 5th.
ELYRIA
- Lorain County JVS Open House: The JVS is also having their annual Open House. This will be on Sunday, February 1st from noon to 3pm at the JVS. If any students are interested in attending the Lorain County JVS, they are able to apply for the 26-27 school year. Applications are now available online. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Belizaire in room 309W
- Chess Club: Chess Club will return the following week on January 22nd.
- ACT Classes: Reminders to juniors that registered for the ACT classes: The classes begin on Tuesday, January 20 in room 219 right after school. See Ms. Battle or Mrs. Anderle with questions.
- Scholarship Workshop: There are still spots available for the LCCC Senior Days field trip. This is an event for seniors that are planning to attend LCCC after high school. See Mrs. Anderle for a permission slip.
FIRELANDS:
- College Credit Plus: During Parent Conference on February 12th at 5pm, we will host our CCP information night. This meeting is open to all students interested in taking college classes in the future. Whether you are planning taking classes next year or a couple years down the road, this session will provide you with the information that you need to be successful.
- Dodgeball: On February 6th we will have our annual Donate to Dodge Dodgeball Tournament. Each grade will get 4 teams of 6 members. To play in the Tournament each team must donate 10 items to Genesis House. The list of needed items can be found on Google Classroom. Please keep in mind that each team must include two female students and your team is not officially registered until you bring in your donation items to Mr. Hartsel. Sign-ups can be found on Google Classroom registration closes on January 16th.
- Spring Musical: May 3rd, FHS Drama will be performing their rendition of “High School Musical”. If you are interested in having a part in the play or in contributing to one of the production teams, please fill out the form on Google Classroom ASAP. Please see Mr. Stillman or Mrs. Leonhardt if you have any questions.
KEYSTONE
- Attention ALL Students: ALL Students will be required to attend Connections 3 days in January: January 22nd, Friday, January 23rd, and Monday, January 26th. You will report to your Mentorship Classroom for these three days.
- Seniors: As we approach the end of the first semester, it is time to submit your senior survey. This survey includes your senior quote along with the information that is published next to your portrait in the 2026 yearbook. Check your email or scan the QR codes on the posters around the building to submit your survey today.
- Drama Club Members: We are doing our Readthrough of Peter Pan on Tuesday, January 20th. If you are not yet in drama club and are interested in joining, come to the read through! We are in need of more lost boys and pirates!
- Winter Formal: Winter Formal is Feb. 7th from 7-10pm. Out of school guest forms are in the office & due by February 5th. Pre-sale tickets will be sold after school in room 123 starting Jan. 26th & during the lunch periods. Tickets are $15 pre-sale and $20 at the door. Tickets for out of school guests can not be purchased until their out of school guest form is on file. If you have any questions see Ms. Heff.
- Spirit Week: January 30th kicks off the countdown to our Winter Formal! Help make this week fun by participating in our Winter Wonderland Spirit Week! On Friday, January 30th, we are having a pep rally to kick off our Winter Wonderland Countdown. Wear your class colors for the pep rally. Continue the spirit into the next week and dress accordingly. Monday – Red Carpet Day, Tuesday – Class Group Outfit Day, Wednesday – Wacky Wednesday, Thursday – Dress Down Day, Friday – Cats Day.
- Air and Space Club: Just a reminder that the Air & Space Club will be meeting today after school at 2:30pm for a picture slideshow and trivia! All are welcome! As of now it will be in Mr. Broad’s Room. Any room changes will be posted on his door. See you soon!
- Girls Game Tonight: Planning on coming to the girl’s big game versus Columbia tonight? If not, you should be! Pack the house to support our Lady Wildcats AND if you are interested in supporting the ROX Leadership Team we will be there with the last of our pink out beanies. Missed out but want to order? We have Pre-Sale available for the 2 classic pink out hats AND a new purple and lavender edition. Beanies are $20.
NORTH RIDGEVILLE
- ROX Mom and Daughter Event: Ruling Our Experiences (ROX) will be holding the I MATTER annual community conference on Feb. 1st, that gives girls in grades 6-12 the skills they need to engage in healthy relationships and provides their mothers and mother figures with the tools and strategies necessary to support them. The event is being held in Columbus and is free to attend. Participants will also receive free parking, event swag, refreshments, and exclusive giveaways. Click here to learn more and to sign up.
- Adaptive Fitness Yoga: Winter registration is open for adaptive aerobic classes on Thursday evening and yoga classes on Saturday mornings. Classes are held at Westlake High School.
- Grief Support: Grief Speaks is a website and resource bank created by grief expert Lisa Athan, MA. Lisa works as a grief therapist, as well as an advocate and educator around the country. Her website features information on topics such as children/adults on grief and about 50 other grief related topics. To access her website and learn more, go to our website.
- Wellness: Sometimes we feel the holiday hangover. Our days are filled with loss, stress, depression and maybe a little anger too. The Cuyahoga Alcohol, Drug Addiction, Mental Health Services Board has put together a book with practical strategies if you find yourself starting to feel down. Topics include grief, loss, change, stress, recovery, sadness, and financial strain for both adults and teens. Check it out!
- Youth with Complex Needs: The Ohio Department of Health’s Complex Medical Help Program (CMH) connects individuals with special health care needs to a network of medical providers and helps them obtain payment for needed services.
- Book Swap: Did you resolve to read more books this new year? Or, did you resolve to minimize or declutter? Reach both goals at once - bring some books to indoor walking in January to exchange with your fellow walkers. Indoor Walking is held Mon/Wed from 5pm-7pm and Fri from 8:30am- 10:30am at LCCC Ridge Campus and Tues/Thur 6pm-8pm at NRAC
- Fitness Classes: Try a new fitness class through United We Sweat. FREE for all ages. Whether you enjoy Zumba, kickboxing or yoga, there’s something for everyone! Virtual and in-person classes available.
- Therapeutic Art: Elyria Public Library has several therapeutic art groups for both teens and adults, run by a certified art therapist that are free to attend. They also offer several other crafting events too. Events may be held at their Central Branch or other locations throughout the county.
- Tutoring: Families with children on an IEP (Individualized Education Program) can apply now for free tutoring during the spring semester through Learning Aid Ohio. Learning Aid provides grant funding so that families can access one-to-one, in-person educational support for students. Learning Aid grants are open to students who are Ohio residents, on an IEP, and live in families whose household income is less than 400% of the federal poverty level.
Wellington

- Scholarship Workshop: On Monday, January 26th, we will be holding a Scholarship Workshop to assist students with completing the application for scholarships offered by the Community Foundation of Lorain County. This is one application for scholarships offered by the Community Foundation of Lorain County. This one application that gives you access to a ton of scholarship opportunities! If you’d prefer to start it ahead of time, you can find the application in the Google Classroom or from Mrs. Faust. Bring your laptop with you the the workshop.
- Duke Softball: Any girl interested in playing softball this spring, there will be a meeting on Tuesday, January 20th at 6 pm at McCormick. It is highly recommended that you attend. There will be an open gym immediately following until 7:30 pm in the McCormick gym. If you are unable to attend due to a prior commitment, please let Mr. Bowman know that you're interested in playing.

Seniors - Endowment Scholarships are available NOW. Endowment Scholarships became available on January 1st. Endowment Scholarships are due by Friday, February 27, 2026. The Local Scholarships become available on Monday, January 12th, 2026. Local Scholarship applications are due by Monday, March 9, 2026. See Mrs. Wyman if you have any questions.
