AMHERST:
- Ohio Youth Survey’s Reminder: Marion L. Steele will soon offer the Ohio Healthy Youth Environments Survey, or OHYES!. This news item answers some basic questions about the survey’s purpose, content and administration. What is the purpose of the survey? Our school district is committed to offering every student the best chance for success. That may include support services for students facing depression, anxiety, bullying, or other challenges. To meet students’ needs, we must first understand what challenges they face. The survey is designed for children age 12 and about. We are asking students in grades 10-12 to participate. - Second Harvest: Shoutout to our amazing Student Volunteers! Our school social workers, Ms. Maiorca and Mrs. Krichbaum, want to recognize these outstanding students who helped pack 95 food boxes for today’s Second Harvest Food Distribution. Their hard work and kindness make a real difference in our community!
- December Second Harvest Food Distribution: To reserve an Amherst Second Harvest Food Box for December 2025. Please complete one form only per family. Deadline to RSVP is Dec. 14th. Food will be available for pick up at Steele High School on Thursday, December 18th from 12pm-1pm. In order to ensure enough food is ordered, please RSVP by Sunday, December 14th! IF you reserve a food box, please make arrangements for pick-up as food ordered based on RSVP numbers. - ITALY 2027: Marion L. Steele High School is excited to announce an International Educational & Cultural Trip to Italy! Students will visit Rome, Florence, Venice and Assisi from March 25-April 2, 2027. Join us for an informational meeting on November 13 at 6pm in the Steele CLC to learn more about this unforgettable experience! Spots are limited to the first 31 students – don’t miss out! Questions? AVON:
- 2026 Commencement Ceremony: Avon High School’s 2026 Commencement Ceremony is taking place on Tuesday, May 26th, 2026.
- AHS Winter Concert Series: The Winter Concert Series is upon us! Coming join us in the Performing Arts Center! Choir Concert is December 17th at 7PM and Orchestra Concert is December 18th at 7pm.
- Art Club: Art Club will meet on Wednesday, December 17th after school for our annual gingerbread house making event. Please RSVP through the Remind post as we need an exact count for supplies. Hope to see you there!
- Model UN Conference: The Model United Nations conference is coming up. There will be plenty of food and fun. If you are already a member of Model UN sign up in google classroom. If not, don’t hesitate to join the Google Classroom site and register. There are plenty of upperclassmen with lots of experience who can help with the conference preparation process, and the conferences are always a lot of fun.
AVON LAKE
- Drama Club News: Avon Lake High School Drama Club Calendar Fundraiser. Avon Lake Drama Boosters is the supporting organization for the ALHS Drama Program. We use funds to supplement theater improvements, feed our cast and crew, and many other ways that help make our productions extra special! For this fundraiser, the students are seeking people to “sponsor.
CLEARVIEW:
- Spring Musical: Auditions for the Spring musical, The Addams Family, will be next Tuesday and Wednesday at 3pm in the auditorium. You only need to attend one day. See Mr. Ward for details or with questions.
- Clipper Cup: There will be a Holiday Pep Rally TOMORROW and we’re playing games! Each class will need to submit tributes to play…Present Stackers, Holiday Hookers, Face the Cookie, and Rock-Paper Scissors, TAG. We will be playing with new rosters (so if you signed up. The winners of the Thanksgiving Food Drive will also be taping Mr. Gulish to the wall! YAY!
- Attention Seniors: If you are applying to a college or university Regular Decision, make sure to apply by the following deadlines: Jan. 1, Feb. 1, Mar 1. It is YOUR responsibility to check each school’s website to see what their deadlines are! Please see your school counselors or College NOW advisor with any questions.
- Track and Field Meeting: There will be a brief track and field meeting on Tuesday, December 16th at 7:35am in the auditorium. All athletes who wish to participate please come to learn more information on the upcoming season.
- Anime Club: We will have our last anime meeting of the year Thursday f rom 1pm to 3pm in room 11i7. We will be watching Suzume. Please stop by.
COLUMBIA:
- Trivia Night: Join Drama for their Trivia Night! Check out the flier or our website for the link to sign up your team!
- Columbia Local Science Fair: Calling all interested students. Submit research project information to Mrs. Karl by December 19th. Project judging will be Thursday, January 15th at 6pm in the CHS cafeteria.
- Leader’s Club: Leader’s Club is Thursday, December 18th from 2:50-3:30pm.
- Spirit Week: Spirit Week begins Monday,with keeping cozy warm! Tuesday is Candy Cane Day!
- Rally Bell Schedule: CHS will be on a Really Bell Schedule on Friday!
- Literature Club: Literature Club will meet on Tuesday, December 16th from 2:30-3:30pm.
- SADD Club: SADD club will meet Wednesday, December 17th 2:50-3:15 pm.
- Leaders club: Leaders club will meet Thursday, December 18th from 2:50-3:30pm.
- Student Council Malley’s chocolate bars: Candy Bars are for sale in the main office for $2.00. They make great stocking stuffers and supports our CHS Student Council.
ELYRIA
- Sophomore JVS Field Trip: Sophomore JVS Field Trip: Sophomores, if you plan on attending the field trip to the Lorain County JVS on Wednesday, January 28th, you must turn in your permission slip into the Team 1/3 office by Wednesday, December 17th. The BSA in the office will have a box for your applications and extra applications if you need. Questions, please see Mr. Belizaire in room 309W.
- Students Spreading Awareness for Animals: Help make a shelter animal’s season just a little brighter! Students Spreading Awareness for Animals is collecting items to donate to local shelters. Here is what we need: canned or dry dog, cat or small animal food and treats, cat litter, towels, blankets, sheets, cleaning supplies, and new or gently used grooming items, beds, cages and toys. Please bring items to room 105 by the end of the school day on December 18th. See Mrs. Lastafka or Students Spreading
- French Club New Year’s Event: Friday, January 16th in room 209 there will be the first French club meeting of the new year until 3:30pm. We will be celebrating the Frech holiday “Ephiphany” with food and fun. Are you cut out to be royalty? Come and find out!
- Semester 2 Schedule Changes: If you need to request a schedule change for second semester, submit the google form located in your “Class Of” google classroom. Please make sure there aren’t any classes on your semester 2 schedule that you have already earned credit for! Remember that year-long classes cannot be dropped and there are specific reasons schedule changes will be granted. The form will be open through Friday, January 9th.
- Spirit Week: Don’t forget to wear your red and white to dress like a candy cane for Spirit week tomorrow!
- Ireland International Trip 2027: There is still time to sign up for the Ireland 2027 field trip. Spaces are limited so if you are interested, please see Mrs. Bechtel in room 237 for more information.
- Now until Winter Break: Thank you to all the students and staff who have already brought in plastic grocery bags for our collection contest! This is the last call for any and all plastic grocery bags. You can turn them in to any science teacher now through Dember 19th. Let’s finish strong and show our city that EHS cates about the environment.
- Spanish Club: Hola EHS! Our next Spanish Club meeting will be on Monday, December 15th at 2:45 in room 202. See Ms. Krava if you have any questions. We hope to see your there!
- Flag Football Information: If you are interested in playing Girls Flag Football in the spring. Please scan the QR code on the fliers around school or see Coach Wilson in Room 208W. All players MUST have passed 5 classes in quarter 2 with a 2.0 GPA, have a physical on file and be signed up in Final Forms. Open gyms will start in January after winter break.
- Calling all Student Clubs/Organizations: In January, we will be sharing updates on EHS clubs and activities during homeroom. Please take a moment to create a slide about your organization information and joining, updates on events, pictures, anything fun to share! The slide show can be accessed through the Presidents Club google Classroom. From the slide show, duplicate one of the four templates and complete the details. The slide show has also been shared with EHS staff and some organizations are already completed. Talk to your advisor and create a plan. We are hoping to have it ready prior to winter break! Please see Mrs. Prechtel in room 121 with any questions.
- Chess Club this Thursday: Hi Pioneers. Chess Club will meet this Thursday from 2:50-4pm in room 306W. Beginning players to experienced players are all welcome. We will see you there!
- Buckeye Boys State and Girls State: Junior students, are you interested in how the government actually works? Do you strive to be a leader? Come find out more about Buckete Boys State and Buckeyes Girls State – a week long, mock government experience taking place in June 2026. There is a QR code to be invited to an informational meeting.
FIRELANDS:
- Washington DC: If there is anyone who is still interested in going on the trip to Washington D.C. (3/30-4/1), we have 5 spots still available! Please see Mr. Hartsel ASAP!
- Cap and Gown: Seniors, have you ordered your cap and gown yet? We recommend that you do so no later than Feb. to ensure you receive them in time. Please go to Jostens.com and place your order sooner rather than later.
- Thailand: Are you interested in traveling to Thailand? This is your last chance to enroll for the trip before enrollment closes for good on Monday, December 15. Please see Mrs. McCarty or Mrs. Rice for enrollment details. Don’t miss out on this adventure of a lifetime!
- Yearbook: Attention all students, now is the perfect time to order your yearbook. Order them today at Jostens.com or stop by and see Mr. Jones in room A208 if you have any questions.
- Falcon PRIDE Raffle: Don’t forget to enter the PRIDE raffle by going to the PBIS Rewards app using Clever and use your points to enter. You will have until 12:30 on Friday to enter to win! There will be one winner drawn from each grade level! If you have any questions, please email Mr. Taylor!
KEYSTONE
- Midterms: Remember that during the 3 days of mid-terms there are no early dismissals during a final testing period. Out of respect for those still testing, you must remain in your class until the period ends. IF you do not have a final, you do not have to be at school!
- Spirit Week: Tuesday’s theme is Team Santa vs. Team Grinch – Which side will ou choose on our Spirit Day Showdown of Holiday Heroes vs. Holiday Heist!
- Attention All Students: Students, you will be seeing price increases on some of the snack and drink in our cafeteria when you return from Christmas break. Thank you for your understanding.
