ASSOCIATE SCHOOL NEWS:
AMHERST:
- Ohio Youth Survey’s Reminder: Marion L. Steele will soon offer the Ohio Healthy Youth Environments Survey, or OHYES!. This news item answers some basic questions about the survey’s purpose, content and administration. What is the purpose of the survey? Our school district is committed to offering every student the best chance for success. That may include support services for students facing depression, anxiety, bullying, or other challenges. To meet students’ needs, we must first understand what challenges they face. The survey is designed for children age 12 and about. We are asking students in grades 10-12 to participate. - Second Harvest: Shoutout to our amazing Student Volunteers! Our school social workers, Ms. Maiorca and Mrs. Krichbaum, want to recognize these outstanding students who helped pack 95 food boxes for today’s Second Harvest Food Distribution. Their hard work and kindness make a real difference in our community!
AVON:
- Avon Animal Club: Do you love animals? Do you need volunteer hours? The Avon Animal Club is hosting a special volunteer training opportunity with the Friendship APL on Friday, December 5th at 4:30pm at Avon High School. The Friendship APL is located in Elyria; volunteers may anticipate help with cat care, cat socialization, and dog walking. You do not have to be an Animal Club member to attend this volunteer training opportunity! Please RSVP by Wednesday, December 3rd in the Google Form on the Animal Club Google Classroom (code: ja5d53g).
- Culture Club Meeting: The next Culture Club meeting with the theme of Holidays around the World will be on Monday, December 8th in Room 204. Interested? Join the google classroom code 73r6hjxz for more information with food, fun and raffles.
- Spring Musical Auditions: Attention students. Auditions for Shrek the Musical are just around the corner! Prepare your audition now. What do you need to do to get ready for the audition? Check out the flyers around the building or see Mr. Moyseeko in the choir room for more details! Auditions are in the first week of December, so don’t wait!
- Model UN Conference: The Model United Nations conference is coming up. There will be plenty of food and fun. If you are already a member of Model UN sign up in google classroom. If not, don’t hesitate to join the Google Classroom site and register. There are plenty of upperclassmen with lots of experience who can help with the conference preparation process, and the conferences are always a lot of fun.
AVON LAKE
- Drama Club News: Avon Lake High School Drama Club Calendar Fundraiser. Avon Lake Drama Boosters is the supporting organization for the ALHS Drama Program. We use funds to supplement theater improvements, feed our cast and crew, and many other ways that help make our productions extra special! For this fundraiser, the students are seeking people to “sponsor.
CLEARVIEW:
- Holiday Decorating Contest: The Social Studies Department is hosting two holiday decorating contests! Students are invited to decorate their own locker to bring some holiday cheer to our hallways. Decorations cannot prevent lockers from opening or closing and they cannot extend out into the hallway space. Inappropriate or offensive content will be removed at staff discretion without notice. Judging will take place after school on Friday, December 5th and prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place. Clipper Cup points will also be awarded based on each grade’s participation in decorating their lockets. Please see the fliers for more information. Staff – please check your email for details about the door decorating contest. Direct any questions to your favorite social studies teacher. (We will be keeping score!)
- Clipper Blankets: Snag your Clipper Blanket for our Prom fundraiser! They are supersoft, and perfect for winter! Support Prom with $20 cash ONLY to Mrs. Koehn! She is taking orders through Friday, December 12th.
- Spring Musical: Auditions for the Spring musical, The Addams Family, will be next Tuesday and Wednesday at 3pm in the auditorium. You only need to attend one day. See Mr. Ward for details or with questions.
- Clipper Times: The winter edition of The Clipper Times will be on sale next Wednesday (12/10) during Homeroom and lunches for $1. Subscriptions for the remainder of the year are also available for $5 for the remaining 5 issues. See Mr. Ward or a yearbook staff member, for more information or your copy.
- Attention Seniors: If you are applying to a college or university Regular Decision, make sure to apply by the following deadlines: Jan. 1, Feb. 1, Mar 1. It is YOUR responsibility to check each school’s website to see what their deadlines are! Please see your school counselors or College NOW advisor with any questions.
- Track and Field Meeting: There will be a brief track and field meeting on Tuesday, December 16th at 7:35am in the auditorium. All athletes who wish to participate please come to learn more information on the upcoming season.
- Student Council: There will be a student council meeting TODAY after school in room 114. Please bring your art supplies and creativity! If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Walter or Mr. Gulish for details.
COLUMBIA:
- Attention Winter Athletes: Final Forms Athletic platform is Open now All sections in Final Forms are due one week prior to your first practice, your current physical needs to be uploaded one week prior to first practice. Students will be denied participation in any practice or scrimmage if above is not completed. Outstanding fees must be paid.
- Volunteers Wanted: Attention Students looking for Volunteer hours. Volunteer for the Secret Santa Shop. Sign up on our website.
- Student Council Malley’s chocolate bars: Candy Bars are for sale in the main office for $2.00.
- Drama Club: Come and join the crew for Chicago: Teen Edition! Get involved in the musical without the pressure of performing on stage. Jobs would be making props, working with spotlights and even wig styling. Interviews are December 3rd from 3pm-6pm in room 1. Sign up using the link below to interview.
ELYRIA
- Boys Soccer Lifting: Boys interested in playing soccer for Elyria High School, we will have lifting after school here at the high school starting December 1st. If will be on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays from 2:50-4pm in the weight room. Questions, please ask Coach Belizaire in 309W or Cach Kurt.
- Anime Club Pink Cookie Sale: Good Morning EHS! Want to get your hands on a pink cookie or a dozen? Anime Club will have a pop-up sale on ONLY Wednesday and Thursday out of room 101. Students may not buy them DURING class times – no exceptions. Thank you for supporting our club!
- Science Club: Our next meeting will be Thursday, Dec. 4th after school in room 237. See Mrs. Bechtel if you have any questions.
- Sophmore JVS Field Trip: Sophomore JVS Field Trip: Sophomores, if you plan on attending the field trip to the Lorain County JVS on Wednesday, January 28th, you must turn in your permission slip into the Team 1/3 office by Wednesday, December 17th. The BSA in the office will have a box for your applications and extra applications if you need. Questions, please see Mr. Belizaire in room 309W.
- International Ireland Trip: The parent meeting will be moved to TODAY, Thursday, Dec. 4th in room 237 at 6pm. See Mrs. Bechtel for details.
- Students Spreading Awareness for Animals: Attention Students Spreading Awareness for Animals. Today’s meeting is canceled and will be moved to next Thursday after school in room 105. New members are always welcome!
- 2026 Football Weight Training: Weight Training has started for the 2026 football season. If you are not enrolled in the sports performance class and you would like to play football next year, stop in and see Coach Wilson in Room 208W as soon as possible. He will give you information about weight training today. We are looking for individuals who are committed to changing the culture and willing to work hard to make that happen.
- JVS Career Night: Seniors, the JVS Career Night events are designed to give you an in-depth look at the career pathways and hands-on opportunities available to them after high school. They are hosting one on Wednesday, December 10th from 5:30 to 7pm at the JVS in Oberlin. Please RSVP. Questions, please see Mrs. Anderle or Mr. Belizaire.
FIRELANDS:
- Winter Sports Spirit Week: Thank you to those that are participating in this week’s Spirit Week. Thursday is Whiteout and Friday is Sweater Day. Don’t forget to check in with your Spirit Officer and earn those Spirit Point, Sophomores are in the lead!
- Attention Seniors: On December 9th, at 7:30 am, we are doing the senior panoramic picture. All seniors will meet in the competition gym at 7:30 am to get set for the panoramic picture. If you attend the JVS and need to ride the bus, you must let Ms. Keener know so that I can arrange for you to have a bus after the picture.
- Track & Field Athletes: If you are interested in joining Track & Field this Spring, preseason Workouts & Indoor Track begins Tuesday, 12/2/25 from 2:45-4pm. We will meet in Coach Lias’ room at 2:45pm. If you are NOT participating in a winter sport, you are expected to attend. See Coach Lias with any questions.
KEYSTONE
- Midterms: Feeling stressed as midterms approach? Looking to strengthen your study strategies? Sign up for the Managing Midterm Stress Connections Workshop coming up! Next Thursday, December 11th It is interactive and will help each of you feel confident going into your tests! (freshmen – don’t be afraid to attend!) Sign ups are in your email.
- Attention Sophomores: Are you interested in attending the JVS? There will be an informational session on Thursday, December 11th during Connections. If you plan on applying you must be in attendance for this meeting. Sign ups can be found in your email.
- Air & Space Club: The Air & Space Club will be meeting this Thursday, after school at 2:30pm in Mr. Broad’s Room. This will be our ONLY meeting for December. We will have treats AND trivia! We are open enrollment, so come on out if interested in aviation or space!
- Comic and Game Club: Attention anyone interested in joining Comic and Game club this year there will be a short organizational meeting in Mr. Habenicht’s room. If you cannot make it please see Mr. Habenicht for more information.
- FCCLA: There is a FCCLA meeting on Friday after school in Ms. Heff’s room.
- Book Club: A reminder that our next meeting will be held after school on Friday, December 5th in room 106. See you there!
