AMHERST:
• Comet Spirit the Fall: Our fall athletics and activities are in full swing! Come out and cheer on your classmates at
games, matches, and events. The energy in the stands has been incredible so far – let’s keep it going! Every time

• Student Home Event Pass: Don’t miss a game! A Student Home Athletic Event Pass is available for $50 and
gives you entry to all HOME regular-season athletic contests at both high school and junior high events. (Note: this
does not include OHSAA or SWC tournament events.) If you haven’t picked one up yet, contact Mr. Wolf at
casey_wolf@amherstk12.org for details and a passcode to purchase.
• Winter Sports Off Season/Coaching Contacts: Winter Sports are right around the corner. If you have interest in
participating in a winter sport, please reach out to our winter coaches to see what information they have for you
regarding any volunteer activities they have going on between now and the official start date or any information they
may have regarding tryouts/first official practices. Reminder that you will need to have a valid physical on file before
the first official day and that your Final Forms account will need to be up to date.
AVON:
• Senior DC Trip Meeting: Seniors interested in attending the Washington, D.C. Trip, please make your calendars
for the Fall Information Meeting! This meeting will be held on Monday, October 27th at 6pm in the AHS Auditorium.
This meeting is mandatory for all interested seniors, and we encourage parents/guardians to attend as well. At this
meeting we will discuss trip details, cost, eligibility and registration. If you cannot attend the meeting, the information

• Winter Sports Club Announcement: The Winter Sports Club is having a parent meeting this Monday, 10/27 at
5:30pm in the Commons. If you are interested in participating in the club, make sure you join the google classroom
with the code: uldujq,and attend the meeting if you can. Please see or email Mr. Lee (leea@avoneagles.org) if you
have any questions.
• STEM Club Meeting: STEM Club will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 29th after school in room
242. We will learn about anatomy and participate in a spooky skeleton race. There are prizes to be won! Also, don’t
forget: all STEM Club dues of $2 must be turned into Ms. Spayd before the next meeting to maintain membership.

• Musical Auditions: If you didn’t know, this year’s Spring Musical in Shrek the Musical! Interested in auditioning for
the show or just learning more? There will be a brief informational meeting on Thursday, October 30th after school at
3pm in the old auditorium to go over everything you’ll need to know to prepare your audition. Can’t make it and want
more details? Check out the flyers that will be hanging around the building or see Mr. Moyseenko in the Choir Room
(Room 183)
• Tree Commission: The City of Avon is looking for a current junior who is passionate about the environment and
wants to get involved with local environmental initiatives to join the Avon Tree Commission. The Avon Tree
Commission meets the second Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm The function of the tree commission is to
study, advise, and encourage the adoption and implementation of a comprehensive plan for the proper planting of
new and replacement trees and maintaining the health of existing trees in the urban forest. Information about
applying is located on the city of Avon’s website, and there are applications in student services and online.
The application is to be turned into city hall (either dropped off or by email) by November 1st. Anyone interested can
contact the follow email with any questions.
• UNICEF: Looking for a way to make a difference this Halloween? Instead of just handing out candy, what if you
could help children in need? The new Avon branch of UNICEF is hosting a Trick or Treat fundraiser now through
October 31st. To donate, simply scan the QR code located on posters around the school and share the
link https://www.locallevelevents.com/events/details/42106 with family and friends. Every dollar raised goes directly
to helping children who need it most. Plus, the top students who collect the most donations under their name will
receive a prize, and anyone who donates is entered into a random drawing for a prize, such as gift cards from
Hecks or Barrys Bagels, or even a prize basket from Main Event! For more information about UNICEF and its

AVON LAKE
• Drama Club News: Avon Lake High School Drama Club Calendar Fundraiser. Avon Lake Drama Boosters is the
supporting organization for the ALHS Drama Program. We use funds to supplement theater improvements, feed our
cast and crew, and many other ways that help make our productions extra special! For this fundraiser, the students
are seeking people to “sponsor.
CLEARVIEW:
• President’s Club: There will be a President’s Club meeting on Thursday, October 28th from 3pm – 4:30pm in the
high school gym. See Coach Dimacchia with any questions.
• Clipper Times: The Halloween edition of the school newspaper, “The Clipper Times,” will be on sale Wednesday,
October 29th during homeroom and lunches for $1.00. Read what it’s like to work Hallo Weekends at Cedar Point,
find out who won the banana bread battle, play games and win prizes. See a yearbook staff member for your copy
on Wednesday.
• NHS Meeting: NHS will meet on Tuesday, October 28th at 2:40pm in room 109. All members must attend. Finishing
touches will be made for the induction ceremony. We will be discussing training at the Animal Portective League
and other service activities. Member, please check Google Classroom for all communitcations and replay as
appropriate.
• Anime Club: There will be another Anime Club meeting on Thursday, October 30th. The meeting will last from 3pm4:30pm. Please see Mrs. Phillips for a permission slip.
• Boo Grams: Attention all students! The Senior Class will be selling “Boo Grams” for $2.00 each (cash only) during
all lunch periods Monday, October 27th through Wednesday, October 29th. They will be passed out during
homeroom on Halloween. Please help support our class.
• Halloween Pep Rally Games: We will be playing games at the Halloween Pep Rally next Friday. In addition to
Rock, Paper, Scissors, TAG, we will also be playing Stack Attack, Goin’ Fishin, Dizzy Mummy, and Paper Dragons.
See Mr. Ward in room 108 to sign up. If you already signed up for tag, you are still signed up. Teams without a full
roster for a game will be disqualified.
• Girls Basketball Tryouts: Girls’ basketball tryouts will be Monday, October 27th and Tuesday, October 28th from 3-
4:30pm in the high school gym. See Coach Dimacchia with any questions.
• Clipper Cup Scores: Headed into this week’s pep rally here are the numbers: Based on attendance, tardies,
referrals and GPA, the Juniors have come out on top! Their reward for having the best numbers this quarter is
qualifying Juniors will be invited to participate in this quarter’s in-house field trip. Be on the lookout for an email from
Mr. Ward next week. The winning graduating class each quarter will receive an invite, so other classes step up your
game this next quarter. Overall scores are currently: the Juniors and Seniors are tied for first place with 39 points,
the Sophmores are in second with 21 points, and the Freshmen are in last with 17 points.
COLUMBIA:
• Student Picture Retakes: Student picture Retakes will be Oct. 29th from 10:30-12:30pm.
• Winter Color Guard: The sign up for Winter Color Guard is in the HS Band and Choir room. No experience is
necessary! Everyone is teachable! Opportunity for flag, rifle, and dance and all 7th -12th grade students are
welcome. Deadline to sign up is October 28th. Note… Scheduling can be flexible if your involved in another in or out

• Spring Musical Chicago Auditions: Please join us for our biggest show yet! We will be performing Chicago (Teen
Addition) Vocal and Acting auditions will be on October 28th the dance call will be October 30th from 6:30-8pm. Sign
up using the QR code on the flier around school or on website. We would love a big cast this year – put yourself out
there and try something new.
• College Visits: Check your email. Cleveland State University will be here Monday, October 27th, and Ashland
University will be here Friday, November 7th.
• Softball: Batting cages will be open every Sunday from 11:30-12:30
• Attention Winter Athletes: Final Forms Athletic platform is Open now All sections in Final Forms are due one
week prior to your first practice, your current physical needs to be uploaded one week prior to first practice.
Students will be denied participation in any practice or scrimmage if above is not completed. Outstanding fees must
be paid.
• Rise N Shine with a Raider: CHS is excited to invite Raider families to a special morning of Raider pride and
community at our annual event on Friday, Oct. 31st from 9:15am to 10am at Columbia High School. Enjoy donuts,
coffee and juice and quality time with your student and fellow CHS families as we celebrate the spirit of our school
together. Following breakfast, we’ll keep the fun going with a costume contest and pep rally from 10am -10:45am.
Costumes are encouraged. Whether you are a parent, grandparent, guardian, or another special adult in a student’s
life, we would love you to join us for this festive and spirited event. RSVP by scanning the QR code on the flier on
our Website.
• SADD: We will be meeting on Monday, Oct. 27th from 2:50-3:15 in Mlle. Toppel’s room and the again Friday, Oct.
31st from 2:45-3pm in Mlle. Toppel’s room for candy distribution.
ELYRIA
• Mobile Dental Clinic: The Mobile Dental Clinic will be at EHS this Friday, October 31st. Those wanting to
participate can sign up now. Forms will be passed out this week in homeroom. The forms will also be available in
the Team offices and Clinic. The Mobile Dental Clinic will exam, clean, and treat all students for FREE or at a low
cost.
• Attention Strive: Their will be a Strive meeting Thursday, Oct. 30th in the PAC Lobby starting promptly at 7:50 AM.
Call slips will be delivered to your homeroom the day before, on Wednesday, as a reminder. Mr. Jones from the
Salvation Army will be the guest speaker for the morning. See you there!
• Career Conversations: The next Career Conversations featuring professionals in construction and cosmetology
and will be during the last week of October. Sign up with the link in the flyer or on your grade level Google
Classroom if interested.
• College Applications: Attention Seniors. This is a reminder to submit requests for transcripts and letters of
recommendation in Naviance as soon as possible.
• College Representatives: There will be representatives from Wright State University and Marietta College visiting
on Tuesday, October 28th. If you are interested in meeting with these colleges, please sign up in your grade level
Google Classroom.
• Craft Club: Formerly known as Knitting Club will be meeting on Wednesday, October 29th in room 224 immediately
after school. Students who are interested in knitting, crocheting, and any arts and crafts this club is for you. See
Mrs. Meredith with questions.
• Boys Basketball Tryouts: Boys Basketball tryouts will start on Friday, October 31st. A calendar can be picked up
outside of Room 219. A current physical must be on file and final forms must be complete.
FIRELANDS:
• Falcon PRIDE Raffle: Don’t forget to enter for this week’s Falcon PRIDE Raffle by going to the PBIS Rewards app
using Clever and use your points to enter. You will have until 12:30 Friday to enter to win! There will be one winner
drawn from each grade level! If you haven’t done so, please take the time to check out the app today and see how
many points you have. You can login using your Clever account and it will be connected to the PBIS Rewards App.

• Powderpuff Game: This year’s Powderpuff game has been rescheduled to Oct. 29th at 6:30pm. Any questions,
please see Mr. Hartsel.
• End of Quarter: As we approach the end of the first quarter on Friday, this is a reminder to focus on completing all
your work. We want to ensure every student has the best possible chance to succeed. Let’s finish strong.
KEYSTONE
• Halloween Movie Night: On Wednesday, October 29th, there will be a free Halloween movie night in the cafeteria.
A survey is out to the student body to poll them to determine which Halloween movie they would like to watch. This
event is a bring your own pillow, blanket and/or bean bag chair. We will begin at 6:45pm.
• Halloween Costume Contest: On Friday, Oct. 31st, we will be having our annual Halloween Costume Contest.
Judging will take place between 2nd and 3rd periods. Prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories.
• Dance Team: Dance Team practices start on Monday, November 3rd from 3-4:30pm in the cafeteria. Anyone
interested in joining the dance team should plan to attend. See Ms. Heff if you have any questions.
• Sherlock Holmes and the Ice Palace Murders: The Keystone High School Drama Club is putting on a
performance of Sherlock Holmes an the Ice Palace Murders on December 5, 6, and 7th. Tickets are on presale for
$15 each, and can be purchased online at eventbrite.com.
• Lip Sync Battle: Are you the best lip syncer in the land? Do you like to perform? Do you have some insane dance
moves or costumes? Do you think YOU could win first place? Come compete in our annual Lip Sync Battle,
presented by the Keystone choir department! The event will be held on Thursday, November 20th at 7pm in the HS
cafetorium. We have categories for middle school, high school, and faculty/family members. If you are interested in
competing in the Lip Sync Battle, pick up an order form from Mrs. Pearce or any choir member. The form, along
with your $5 entry fee, is due to Mrs. Pearce by November 5th.
