AMHERST:
• Comet Spirit the Fall: Our fall athletics and activities are in full swing! Come out and cheer on your classmates at games, matches, and events. The energy in the stands has been incredible so far – let’s keep it going! Every time you show up, our Comet teams feel the support and thrive on it. • Student Home Event Pass: Don’t miss a game! A Student Home Athletic Event Pass is available for $50 and gives you entry to all HOME regular-season athletic contests at both high school and junior high events. (Note: this does not include OHSAA or SWC tournament events.) If you haven’t picked one up yet, contact Mr. Wolf at casey_wolf@amherstk12.org for details and a passcode to purchase.
• Winter Sports Off Season/Coaching Contacts: Winter Sports are right around the corner. If you have interest in participating in a winter sport, please reach out to our winter coaches to see what information they have for you regarding any volunteer activities they have going on between now and the official start date or any information they may have regarding tryouts/first official practices. Reminder that you will need to have a valid physical on file before the first official day and that your Final Forms account will need to be up to date.
AVON:
• Band Practice on Wednesday: If you park in the south lot on the ban practice field, please make sure you move your car by 3pm. This area of the parking lot needs to be cleared for band to practice.
• Art Club Announcement: Art Club will meet Wednesday, October 22nd after school for our annual pumpkin carving event.
• Learning Labs Are Here: Learning labs are subject specific, drop-in style support for students. Learning lab is available to students before school and during 1st, 4th, and 7th periods. This is an opportunity for students to get extra help on topics or assignments outside of their regular instructional time. Students must bring questions, assignments, class materials, or notes which they would like extra support with to the learning lab.
AVON LAKE
• Drama Club News: Avon Lake High School Drama Club Calendar Fundraiser. Avon Lake Drama Boosters is the supporting organization for the ALHS Drama Program. We use funds to supplement theater improvements, feed our cast and crew, and many other ways that help make our productions extra special! For this fundraiser, the students are seeking people to “sponsor.
CLEARVIEW:
• Picture Retakes: Picture re-takes will be on Thursday, October 23rd in the Auditorium. You may go with teacher permission or during your lunch and study hall.
• Anime Movie Night: If you are interested in participating in the Anime Club Movie Night, you must have a signed permission slip handed in by this Thursday! There are only 20 spots open, so it is first-come, first-served. No permission slip, no movie. We will be watching “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” on Thursday, October 16th. This will last from about 3-5 o’clock. The Google Classroom Code is duxfft2. Please see Mrs. Phillips in room 117 for the permission slip.
• NHS Carwash: NHS is having a car wash on Saturday in the High School parking lot from 11am-2pm. Come out and let us clean your ride.
• Girls Basketball Tryouts: Girls’ basketball tryouts will be Monday, October 27th and Tuesday, October 28th from 3-4:30pm in the high school gym. See Coach Dimacchia with any questions.
COLUMBIA:
• Student Picture Retakes: Student picture Retakes will be Oct. 29th from 10:30-12:30pm.
• Winter Color Guard: The sign up for Winter Color Guard is in the HS Band and Choir room. No experience is necessary! Everyone is teachable! Opportunity for flag, rifle, and dance and all 7th -12th grade students are welcome. Deadline to sign up is October 28th. Note… Scheduling can be flexible if your involved in another in or out of school activity. Questions? Ask any current color guard member or Coach Ty at tcoleman@clsdraiders.org
• Community Service: Here are the details regarding community service hours. A service log is available in the CHS office, JVS students should see Mrs. Meadows in Student Services. Seniors are required to complete their hours by May 1st of their graduation year. The graduation requirement is 20 hours. Hours that were completed over the summer are eligible.
• Spring Musical Chicago Auditions: Please join us for our biggest show yet! We will be performing Chicago (Teen Addition) Vocal and Acting auditions will be on October 28th the dance call will be October 30th from 6:30-8pm. Sign up using the QR code on the flier around school or on website. We would love a big cast this year – put yourself out there and try something new.
• College Visits: Check your email. Cleveland State University will be here Monday, October 27th, and Ashland University will be here Friday, November 7th.
• College Now: Jamie Vega Hamilton will be at the High School on Thursday, October 23rd. Stop in the guidance office if you would like to make an appointment to see her.
• Softball: Batting cages will be open every Sunday from 11:30-12:30
• Attention Winter Athletes: Final Forms Athletic platform is Open now All sections in Final Forms are due one week prior to your first practice, your current physical needs to be uploaded one week prior to first practice. Students will be denied participation in any practice or scrimmage if above is not completed. Outstanding fees must be paid.
• Volunteer Opportunities: Fall Family Night at Red Wagon Farm is Oct. 21st. Go to the link on our website to sign up.
ELYRIA
• Mobile Dental Clinic: The Mobile Dental Clinic will be at EHS on October 31st. Those wanting to participate can sign up now. Forms will be passed out this week in homeroom. The forms will also be available in the Team offices and Clinic. The Mobile Dental Clinic will exam, clean, and treat all students for FREE or at a low cost.
• EHS Bowling Teams: Open Bowls will be on Sundays in the month of October, at 3pm. If you want to play you must have a physical form on file in the athletic office. If you have questions, see Coach Rainey in 134 or Coach Moran in the athletic office.
• Career Conversations: The next Career Conversations featuring professionals in construction and cosmetology and will be during the last week of October. Sign up with the link in the flyer or on your grade level Google Classroom if interested.
• Ohio Youth Alive: Salt and Light is Elyria’s Ohio Youth Alive Club with the mission of finding light in a dark place through God. We will be meeting in room 224 on Tuesday, October 21st right after school. We hope to see you there.
FIRELANDS:
• Seniors & Juniors: On Wednesday, October 29th you will have the opportunity to visit Cleveland State University and John Carroll University with College Now. If you would like to attend, please fil out the form in Google Classroom! Space Is Limited!!!
• Attention Juniors: Junior class meeting with Urbansky & Ault immediately after school in the LIFE room 114. Just look for the Falcon Fuel display! Class Officers, Prom Theme, DJ & Caterer are on the agenda.
• SAFE: SAFE will meet this Tuesday, in the front conference room in the main office during 5c lunch. Anyone interested in learning more, please bring your lunch. We look forward to seeing you there.
• Earn a Seal: Do you love animals? Do you enjoy giving back to your community? Do you want to earn the Community Service Graduation Seal? If you answer yes to any of these questions, join Falcons for Our Four-Legged Friends! We will meet on Thursday, October 23rd during Fire B in the Next by the broadcasting room to discuss our plans. • Softball: Attention FHS softball players! If you are interested in playing this spring, please attend our first meeting, TOMORROW at 3pm in the high school cafeteria. If you cannot attend, please see Mr. Majoris in room A201C on the 2nd Floor SXL prior to the meeting or send him an email ASAP.
• Falcon PRIDE Raffle: Don’t forget to enter for this week’s Falcon PRIDE Raffle by going to the PBIS Rewards app using Clever and use your points to enter. You will have until 12:30 Friday to enter to win! There will be one winner drawn from each grade level! If you have any questions, please email Mr. Taylor!
• Attention Seniors: Friday, October 24th will be the Fall Sports Senior Night. Any senior who participated in any fall sports should fill out the form in Google Classroom. This will include Soccer, Volleyball, Cheer, Football, Marching Band, Cross County, Flag, and the training staff. Please have all forms filled out by this Friday.
Powderpuff Game: This year’s Powderpuff game will be held, Oct. 22nd @ 6pm with the freshmen playing against the sophomores, the Junior vs. Senior Game will follow. Shirts are $10 and are due to Mr. Hartsel no later than this Friday.
• Choir Concert: The FHS Fall Choir Concert has been moved to Tuesday, October 21st @7pm in the Aux Gym.
• Trunk or Treat: FHS Tri-M Chapter’s annual Trunk or Treat will be held Saturday. Oct. 25th behind the high school from 11am-1:30pm. Please bring your little siblings, cousins, or neighbors in costume for some Halloween fun. There will be candy, carnival games and prizes. Donations appreciated, please see Mrs. Johnson for more info.
KEYSTONE
• Yearbooks: We are down to our final box of 2025 yearbooks. If you are interested in a copy of the 24-25 yearbook, please bring $85 cash or check payable to Keystone High School to Mr. Hogue in room 108. Once this final box is emptied, all available copies will be gone.
• Basketball: All boys interested in playing basketball this season: Quick meeting in the gym on Tuesday, Oct. 21st after school. Calendars and schedules will be handed out. First official day of practice is Friday, Oct. 31st.
• Halloween Movie Night: On Wednesday, October 29th, there will be a free Halloween movie night in the cafeteria. A survey is out to the student body to poll them to determine which Halloween movie they would like to watch. This event is a bring your own pillow, blanket and/or bean bag chair. We will begin at 6:45pm.
• Halloween Costume Contest: On Friday, Oct. 31st, we will be having our annual Halloween Costume Contest. Judging will take place between 2nd and 3rd periods. Prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories.
• Mario Kart Tournament: Mark your calendars for the annual Mario Kart Tournament on Tuesday, November 25th. Sign-ups will be happening soon.
• Pink Gear: Did you miss out on a chance to order Pink Out gear? The ROX Leadership Team is doing a Presale of the Spirit Packs or just the Pink Out Shirt. Students who want to order should fill out the form in their email.
• Wrestling Managers: Coach Vondruska is looking for managers to keep stats for this upcoming wrestling season. Please see Coach Vondruska if you are interested in helping out the wrestling team.
• Lip Sync Battle: Are you the best lip syncer in the land? Do you like to perform? Do you have some insane dance moves or costumes? Do you think YOU could win first place? Come compete in our annual Lip Sync Battle, presented by the Keystone choir department! The event will be held on Thursday, November 20th at 7pm in the HS cafetorium. We have categories for middle school, high school, and faculty/family members. If you are interested in competing in the Lip Sync Battle, pick up an order form from Mrs. Pearce or any choir member. The form, along with your $5 entry fee, is due to Mrs. Pearce by November 5th.
• Spanish Club: Our next meeting is this Thursday, Oct. 23rd right after school. See you then!
