AMHERST:
• Comet Spirit the Fall: Our fall athletics and activities are in full swing! Come out and cheer on your classmates at games, matches, and events. The energy in the stands has been incredible so far – let’s keep it going! Every time you show up, our Comet teams feel the support and thrive on it. • Student Home Event Pass: Don’t miss a game! A Student Home Athletic Event Pass is available for $50 and gives you entry to all HOME regular-season athletic contests at both high school and junior high events. (Note: this does not include OHSAA or SWC tournament events.) If you haven’t picked one up yet, contact Mr. Wolf at casey_wolf@amherstk12.org for details and a passcode to purchase.
• Winter Sports Off Season/Coaching Contacts: Winter Sports are right around the corner. If you have interest in participating in a winter sport, please reach out to our winter coaches to see what information they have for you regarding any volunteer activities they have going on between now and the official start date or any information they may have regarding tryouts/first official practices. Reminder that you will need to have a valid physical on file before the first official day and that your Final Forms account will need to be up to date.
AVON:
• Band Practice on Wednesday: If you park in the south lot on the ban practice field, please make sure you move your car by 3pm. This area of the parking lot needs to be cleared for band to practice.
• Mighty Eagle Marching Band News: This weekend, the Mighty Eagle Marching Band will travel to The Ohio State University to compete in the 2025 Buckeye Invitational! The band continues to build on the success of their competition show, True North. Most recently, on September 27th they performed at Perkins, earning Superior ratings from all judges and taking 3rd place overall. However, the color guard received the Best Overall Auxiliary Award. As the band heads to “The Shoe” in Columbus, they’ll perform alongside more than 40 bands from across Ohio. Good Luck to our Mighty Eagles!
AVON LAKE
• Food Drive: Avon Lake City Schools is collecting non-perishable food items for our local food pantry in a friendly competition against Avon Local Schools. ALCS brought home the title last year, and in order to defend it, we need all of our Shoremen and Shoregals to step up to the plate, pitch-in, and knock this year’s effort out of the park!! Peanut butter, cereal, canned meats and fruits, and paper products can all be delivered to drop off locations at each of our school buildings and throughout the community, culminating on Friday, October 17, 2025, with our football game against Avon. • Souper Bowl Food Drive: Help score a touchdown for your local food pantry. This event is always a highlight of fall, but our pantry shelves are especially low right now. While monetary gifts are still vital, we also want to put a special emphasis on food donations this year. Every can and box truly make a difference. Donations of canned foods cn be dropped off in the Commons any time before noon on October 17th. Let’s keep the trophy here in AL!!
• Drama Club News: Avon Lake High School Drama Club Calendar Fundraiser. Avon Lake Drama Boosters is the supporting organization for the ALHS Drama Program. We use funds to supplement theater improvements, feed our cast and crew, and many other ways that help make our procuctions extra special! CLEARVIEW:
• Mandatory Senior Class Meeting: Attention Seniors! Please mark your calendars for the following dates: Mandatory Senior Class Meeting on Friday, February 6th at 7:45 am in the auditorium. Mandatory Senior Class Meeting on Marcy 27th at 7:45 am in the auditorium. We will be discussing important graduation information. Please arrive on time. If you do not attend these meetings, you will not be able to walk at graduation JVS seniors will have transportation back to JVS those mornings. Please see your counselors with any questions. • Senior Class Fundraiser: Attention all students! The Senior Class will be selling donuts and apple cider for $1.00 each (cash only) after school near the student entrance this week. Please help to support our class!
• Student Council Meeting: Attention students. The next student council meeting is after school TODAY in room 114 with Mr. Walter and Mr. Gulish. We will be discussing the fall food drive. The meeting will last about a half hour.
• NHS Carwash: National Honor Society is hosting a car wash on Saturday, October 18th from 11am -2pm in the high school parking lot. Donations only. Come out and support your friends and get that car cleaned up.
• Anime Movie Night: Anime Club is back. We will be watching Jujutsu Kaisen O on Thursday, October 16th. This will last from about 3 to 5 o’clock. The Google Classroom Code is duxfft2. COLUMBIA:
• Student Picture Retakes: Student picture Retakes will be Oct. 29th from 10:30-12:30pm.
• Winter Color Guard: The sign up for Winter Color Guard is in the HS Band and Choir room. No experience is necessary! Everyone is teachable! Opportunity for flag, rifle, and dance and all 7th -12th grade students are welcome. Deadline to sign up is October 28th. Note… Scheduling can be flexible if your involved in another in or out of school activity. Questions? Ask any current color guard member or Coach Ty at tcoleman@clsdraiders.org
• Community Service: Here are the details for community service hours. A service log is available in the CHS office, JVS students should see Mrs. Meadows in Student Services. Seniors are required to complete their hours by May 1st of their graduation year. The graduation requirement is 20 hours. Hours that were completed over the summer are eligible.
• Softball: Batting cages will be open every Sunday from 11:30-12:30
• Attention Winter Athletes: Final Forms Athletic platform is Open now All sections in Final Forms are due one week prior to your first practice, your current physical needs to be uploaded one week prior to first practice. Students will be denied participation in any practice or scrimmage if above is not completed. Outstanding fees must be paid.
• Employment Opportunity: Strongsville Recreation Center needs lifeguards. See the flier on our website for more information.
• Volunteer Opportunities: We need volunteers for the Scholastic Book Fair on Oct. 8th from 4-7:30pm and Oct. 9th from 12:30-4:30pm. We would love your help to make it the best fair ever! ELYRIA
• Career Conversations: Career Conversations are back! The conversations are presentations by local professionals that explain what they do in their career path. Our first guest will be representing welding, steam fitting, plumbing, and HVAC. Sign up with the flyer posted. See Mrs. Anderle or Ms. Battle if you are unable to register with the link.
• Open Mic Night: The Lorain County Youth Council is hosting an Open Mic Night on October 11th at 4:30pm at the Lorain County Urban League. Join us for a fantastic night of music, poetry, comedy, and much more! All are welcome. Use the link on your class of Google Classrooms to register.
• Mobile Dental Clinic: The Mobile Dental Clinic will be at EHS on October 31st. Those wanting to participate can sign up now. Forms will be passed out this week in homeroom. The forms will also be available in the Team offices and Clinic. The Mobile Dental Clinic will exam, clean, and treat all students for FREE or at a low cost.
• College Representatives: The Cleveland Institute of Art will be visiting next week. If you are interested in pursuing art career paths and education, please sign up in your grade level Google Classroom.
• Senior Project: Attention Seniors. The Senior Project is now available. Please pick up a packet from Mrs. Anderle before October 24. Interested seniors MUST meet with Mrs. Anderle to discuss their interest before submitting an application.
• Link Crew Open Gym: Attention Class of 2029 and Transfer Students! Link Crew is hosting an open gym on Tuesday, October 14th from 2:45-4pm in the dining hall and small gym. Join us for food, crafts, games, prizes and more! See you there!
• FAFSA Night: Attention Seniors! FAFSA Nigh is on Tuesday, October 14th at 6pm in the PAC Lobby. This is an event to help you and your parents complete your FAFSA. An email was sent home to families with the registration information. See Mrs. Anderle with questions.
• Senior Poet: Attention Seniors. The Senior Poem guidelines are now available. This is an opportunity to write a poem that symbolizes your class. The selected poem will be featured in the yearbook and in the graduation announcements. See Mrs. Anderle by October 31st if interested.• Career Expo Field Trip: There will be a field trip to the Lorain County Career Pathways Expo. Students will participate in hands-on activities designed to help students experience what careers in different fields are like. Engineering, medical, IT, many trades and STEM careers are highlighted. See Mrs. Anderle for a permission form.
• EHS Bowling Teams: Open Bowls will be on Sundays in the month of October, at 3pm. If you want to play you must have a physical form on file in the athletic office. If you have questions, see Coach Rainey in 134 or Coach Moran in the athletic office.
• President Club Members: Please make sure to sign up for the google classroom and remind app. This is how we communicate meeting dates and times with you. The first meeting for President’s Club will be Tuesday, October 14th
• Key Club Meeting: Interested in volunteering and helping your community? Come to Key Club’s next meeting on October 15th in 206W right after school. See Ms. Perfette if you have any questions!
FIRELANDS:
• Seniors & Juniors: On Wednesday, October 29th you will have the opportunity to visit Cleveland State University and John Carroll University with College Now. If you would like to attend, please fil out the form in Google Classroom! Space Is Limited!!!
• Falcon Pride Raffle: We will be having another Falcon PRIDE Raffle this week! Don’t forget to enter the raffle by going to the PBIS Rewards app using Clever and use your points to enter. Just click on the raffle tab on the app and enter to win. You will have until 12:30 Friday to enter to win! There will be one winner drawn from each grade level! If you have any questions, please email Mr. Taylor!
• Spirit Game: The next Spirit Game is our Falcon Cross Country teams. Come out and show your support this Saturday @ 9am as our runners take on Black River at home. Don’t forget to check in with their class’s spirit officer to earn points for their grade.
• Friendly Reminder: This is your friendly reminder that all book bags and cell phones should be inside your locker during school hours. In addition, hats are not permitted, and hoodies should remain down. Please help us ensure students’ safety and create a positive learning environment by minimizing disruptions. Thank you!
• Parade of Bands: October 11th is this years “Parade of Bands”, hosted by the FHS Mighty Falcon Marching Band, featuring performances from multiple local high school bands. The event is held here at FHS. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students with proceeds directly benefiting the FHS Instrumental Music Program. Come out and show your support for our Mighty Falcon Marching Band!
• Attention Seniors: If you please to apply to a 2 or 4 year college/university, you must attend a mandatory meeting with Mrs. Summerville-Miller in the AUX Gym this Wednesday, October 8th during 3rd period. Seniors should report to 3rd period for attendance and then we will call you down. Please bring your charged Chromebook.
• Powderpuff Game: Signups for Powderpuff are now officially open. This year’s Powderpuff game will be held, Oct. 22nd @ 6pm with the freshmen playing against the sophmores, the Junior vs. Senior Game will follow. Shirts are $10 and are due to Mr. Hartsel by next Friday. Signups will end this Friday! Anybody interested in participating in the halftime show should also sign up.
• Choir Concert: The FHS Fall Choir Concert has been moved to Tuesday, October 21st @7pm in the Aux Gym.
KEYSTONE
• Attention Juniors and Seniors: Seniors and Juniors, we will be going on a college visit to Bowling Green State University and Ashland on October 15th. Permission slips are in the main office. Spots are first come, first served.
• Family Fall Fest: FCCLA is putting on their annual Family Fall Fest on Saturday, October 11th from noon- 2pm at the stadium. This year it is a carnival-style event with a mix of cost and no coast games and treats. If you would like to volunteer to help or have any questions, please see Ms. Heff. Hope to see you there!
• Drama Club: The Keystone High School Drama Club is putting on a performance of Sherlock Holmes and the Ice Palace Murders on December 5, 6, and 7th. • Yearbooks: We are down to our final box of 2025 yearbooks. If you are interested in a copy of the 24-25 yearbook, please bring $85 cash or check payable to Keystone High School to Mr. Hogue in room 108. Once this final box is emptied, all available copies will be gone.
