AMHERST:
• Comet Spirit the Fall: Our fall athletics and activities are in full swing! Come out and cheer on your classmates at games, matches, and events. The energy in the stands has been incredible so far – let’s keep it going! Every time you show up, our Comet teams feel the support and thrive on it. • Student Home Event Pass: Don’t miss a game! A Student Home Athletic Event Pass is available for $50 and gives you entry to all HOME regular-season athletic contests at both high school and junior high events. (Note: this does not include OHSAA or SWC tournament events.) If you haven’t picked one up yet, contact Mr. Wolf at casey_wolf@amherstk12.org for details and a passcode to purchase.
• Winter Sports Off Season/Coaching Contacts: Winter Sports are right around the corner. If you have interest in participating in a winter sport, please reach out to our winter coaches to see what information they have for you regarding any volunteer activities they have going on between now and the official start date or any information they may have regarding tryouts/first official practices. Reminder that you will need to have a valid physical on file before the first official day and that your Final Forms account will need to be up to date.
AVON:
• Homecoming Dance Tickets on Sale Now! Buy your Homecoming tickets! The Homecoming dance will be held on Saturday, October 4th from 7pm-10pm and tickets are on sale now. The theme is Cosmic Glow. Tickets will be sold until Friday, October 3rd at 3pm. If you would like to bring a guest, forms are available in the main office and students services. • Homecoming Court: Voting for 2027-2029 class representatives for Homecoming court is live now! Vote using the form found on your graduating class Google classroom. Voting will end at 3pm. Seniors: Vote for your Homecoming King and Queen! Voting will remain open from Friday 9/26 – Thursday 10/2 at 12pm. The form is available on your graduating class’s Google classroom.
• Band Practice on Wednesday: If you park in the south lot on the ban practice field, please make sure you move your car by 3pm. This area of the parking lot needs to be cleared for band to practice.
AVON LAKE
• Food Drive: Avon Lake City Schools is collecting non-perishable food items for our local food pantry in a friendly competition against Avon Local Schools. ALCS brought home the title last year, and in order to defend it, we need all of our Shoremen and Shoregals to step up to the plate, pitch-in, and knock this year’s effort out of the park!! Peanut butter, cereal, canned meats and fruits, and paper products can all be delivered to drop off locations at each of our school buildings and throughout the community, culminating on Friday, October 17, 2025, with our football game against Avon. CLEARVIEW:
• Homecoming Dance: The Homecoming Dance will be held TOMORROW from 7pm – 10pm in the Clearview High School Gym. Tickets will be $10 each (cash only) and ONLY SOLD AT THE DOOR!
• Youth 4 Youth: Youth for Youth is meeting Tuesday, October 7th at 2:45 in Room 208, with projects like spreading positivity around the school and volunteering in the community. Bring ideas, bring a friend, and get involved in making a difference this year.
• Lost and Found Table: If you are missing something, please check the lost and found table in the main hallway. All items left behind will be donated after school TODAY! • Career Fair: Attention all students! If you are interested in attending a field trip to the Southern Lorain County College & Career Fair at Keystone High School on Tuesday, October 7th, please either sign up in the counseling office or complete the Google form Mrs. Karr sends out. Please note: You MUST be in good academic standing in order to attend this field trip.
• Clipper Cup: The Clipper Cub is back, baby! The Clipper Cup is the ultimate battle of the classes. The winning class will have a field day with inflatable obstacle courses and yard games at the end of the year. Points are accumulated by competing in challenges, starting with games at the Homecoming Pep Rally TODAY. See Mr. Ward to sign up! Classes who don’t have a full roster for the games will be disqualified.
• Clipper Cup Attendance Challenge: The first Clipper Cup attendance challenge is here! Go to the Homecoming Football Game TONIGHT, check in with Mrs. Koehn or Mrs. Hutsenpiller, then make your way to the student section to cheer on the football team. The graduating class with the highest percentage of attendees at the game wins. Behavior expectations at the game set by the administration must be followed. Students already participating in the event (football players, band, cheer, etc.) are automatically tallied for their class.
• Mandatory Senior Class Meeting: Attention Seniors! Please mark your calendars for the following dates: Mandatory Senior Class Meeting on Friday, February 6th at 7:45 am in the auditorium. Mandatory Senior Class Meeting on Marcy 27th at 7:45 am in the auditorium. We will be discussing important graduation information. Please arrive on time. If you do not attend these meetings, you will not be able to walk at graduation JVS seniors will have transportation back to JVS those mornings. Please see your counselors with any questions.
• Open Mat: Any students in grades 7th through 12th that are interested in Wrestling who are not currently involved in a fall sport. There will be Open Mats beginning Wednesday, October 8th from 3-4pm until the Wrestling season begins. If you have any questions, see Coach Steadman for more details.
• Attention Spanish 4 Students: It is imperative that you are checking your email and google classroom. Mrs. Hutsenpiller needs you to reply to several messages ASAP.
COLUMBIA:
• Student Academic Fees: Student Academic fees were due Monday, September 15th. Unpaid fees will result in denial of students to participate in extracurricular activities, including the homecoming dance on Oct. 4th. Contact school office for inquiries about payment plans. Chromebook insurance is no longer available.
• Homecoming 2025: Homecoming Crowning will be Friday Oct. 3rd at 6:30pm, Football game vs. Oberlin is Friday, October 3rd at 7pm. The dance will be Oct. 4th from 7pm-9pm in the CHS gymnasium, a dance form must be completed prior to purchasing tickets – printed forms are available in the main office.
• Student Picture Retakes: Student picture Retakes will be Oct. 29th from 10:30-12:30pm.
• Outdoor Education: Students interested in applying for the outdoor education counselor, please use the link on our website.
• Winter Color Guard: The sign up for Winter Color Guard is in the HS Band and Choir room. No experience is necessary! Everyone is teachable! Opportunity for flag, rifle, and dance and all 7th -12th grade students are welcome. Deadline to sign up is October 28th. • Community Service: Here are the details for community service hours. A service log is available in the CHS office, JVS students should see Mrs. Meadows in Student Services. Seniors are required to complete their hours by May 1st of their graduation year. The graduation requirement is 20 hours. Hours that were completed over the summer are eligible.
• Leaders Club: Leader’s Club will meet TODAY, Friday, Oct. 3rd from 2:50pm-4pm in room 3.
• Softball: Batting cages will be open every Sunday from 11:30-12:30
• Employment Opportunity: Strongsville Recreation Center needs lifeguards. See the flier on our website for more information.
• Volunteer Opportunites: The PTO Mum Sale will be Tuesday, Oct. 7th from 6pm-8pm. We need volunteers to load for parents picking up at Columbia Park Parking Lot near Pavilion A. Students were serve as runners. When a PTO volunteer calls out a name, they would run and grab an order and bring it over for loading. We also need volunteers for the Scholastic Book Fair on Oct. 8th from 4-7:30pm and Oct. 9th from 12:30-4:30pm. We would love your help to make it the best fair ever! Help is needed setting up, helping students shop, and packing up.
ELYRIA
• Career Conversations: Career Conversations are back! The conversations are presentations by local professionals that explain what they do in their career path. Our first guest will be representing welding, steam fitting, plumbing, and HVAC. Sign up with the flyer posted. See Mrs. Anderle or Ms. Battle if you are unable to register with the link.
• Open Mic Night: The Lorain County Youth Council is hosting an Open Mic Night on October 11th at 4:30pm at the Lorain County Urban League. Join us for a fantastic night of music, poetry, comedy, and much more! All are welcome. Use the link on your class of Google Classrooms to register.• Mobile Dental Clinic: The Mobile Dental Clinic will be at EHS on October 31st. Those wanting to participate can sign up now. Forms will be passed out this week in homeroom. The forms will also be available in the Team offices and Clinic. The Mobile Dental Clinic will exam, clean, and treat all students for FREE or at a low cost.
• LCCC College Fair: LCCC College Fair on Monday, October 6 from 6-7:30pm. This is a great opportunity to explore over 80 college options.
• College Representatives: Representatives from Bowling Green, Capital University, Wilmington College, Cuyahoga Community College, and John Carroll University will be visiting next week. Sign up in your grade level Google Classroom to attend.
• Senior Project: Attention Seniors. The Senior Project is now available. Please pick up a packet from Mrs. Anderle before October 24. Interested seniors MUST meet with Mrs. Anderle to discuss their interest before submitting an application.
FIRELANDS:
• Homecoming Tickets: This is the last chance to get your HOCO tickets for $15. They are available after school in Mr. Hartsel’s room, as well as in the lunchroom. Tickets will be available at the door, but the cost will increase to $20.
• Big Brothers Big Sisters: Any Junior or Senior who is interested in Big Brothers Big Sisters program, please turn in your application by next Tuesday, October 7th!
• Falcon Pride Raffle: Falcon PRIDE Raffle is TODAY! Don’t forget to enter the raffle by going to the PBIS Rewards app using Clever and use your points to enter. Just click on the raffle tab on the app and enter to win. You will have until 12:30 on Friday to enter to win. There will be one winner drawn from each grade level. • Happy Homecoming: We will be kicking off our celebrations with today’s Pep Rally and the announcement of this year’s Homecoming Court! The festivities will continue with the Friends of Falcons Tailgate at the stadium from 5pm-7pm. Admission is $5 and includes: Hotdogs, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cone from Icee Truck, face painting, DJ, ad games with prizes. Hope to see you all there!
• Spirit Game: Mark your calendar for our next Spirit Game! Next Tuesday, 10/7 we will be cheering on our Falcon Volleyball team while they take on their rivals, the Keystone Wildcats at home. Every student who attends the game should check in with their class’s spirit officer to earn points for their grade. Sorry, students who are required to be there do not count as points.

KEYSTONE
• Looking for Volunteers: High School volunteers are needed to work the KES Lego Club and KES Chess Club. If you are interested in volunteering, please see Senorita to sign up! All club times are 3:25 – 4:40.
• CAVS Tickets: Who wants discounted Cavs tickets? The KHS choirs will be singing the National Anthem at the Cavs games on Sunday, November 2nd at 6pm. If you’d like to come out to support our choirs, you may purchase discounted tickets from any choir member. Tickets are $37 for the upper bowl, and $75 for the lower bowl. Order forms are available in the KHS music room! We’d love to have a HUGE cheering section from Keystone! All family, friends, and staff are encouraged to attend.
• Lorain County Career Expo: There will be a field trip to the brand new Lorain County Career EXPO on Wednesday, October 22nd. Spots are first come, first serve and permission slips can be found in the front office. Come explore career areas in Healthcare, trades, manufacturing, engineering, business, technology, STEAM, and government/public service.
• Attention Juniors and Seniors: Seniors and Juniors, we will be going on a college visit to Bowling Green State University and Ashland on October 15th. Permission slips are in the main office. Spots are first come, first served.
• BBQ Club: BBQ Club Members, see Ms. Heff for a fundraising form ASAP.
• Family Fall Fest: FCCLA is putting on their annual Family Fall Fest on Saturday, October 11th from noon- 2pm at the stadium. This year it is a carnival style event with a mix of cost and no coast games and treats. If you would like to volunteer to help or have any questions, please see Ms. Heff. Hope to see you there!
• Photography Club: Do you love capturing moments, telling stories through photos, or just want to learn how to take better pictures? Then come be a part of our Photography Club! Whether you are a beginner with a phone or a pro with a DSLR, everyone is welcome! On Tuesday, October 7th there will be a short meeting after school in Mr. Broads room.
• Outdoor Movie Night: Just a reminder, this Saturday, October 4th, the LaGrange Lion’s Club is having their FREE Outdoor Movie Night. The movie that will be shown is MUFSA…The Lion King. This will take place at LaGrange Lions Park. The event starts at 6 pm, with the movie starting at dusk, approximately 8pm. Bring your own lawn chair and blankets. Free popcorn, cotton candy and water while last.
• Staff of Month: Congratulations to Mr. Davis for winning the Staff of the Month! If you see Mr. Davis today, make sure to should him out for elevating each moment so far this school year!
