AVON:
• Marching Band: This past weekend, on Saturday, September 13th. The Avon Mighty Eagle Marching Band performed at their first local OMEA Marching Band Competition held at Cloverleaf High School. 12 schools from all around Ohio competed at the event. The Might Eagle Marching Band received 1st place in Class AA, Grand Champion, and a Superior Rating, qualifying them for OMEA State Finals.
• Orchestra: Congratulations to the following AHS orchestra students for auditioning and being accepted to the OMEA Northeast All-Region Orchestra: Kerem Duyar, Megan Wise, Alexis Sudik, Hunter Schantz, Logan Lam, Anna Weiler, Hala Batayneh, Arthur Zhao, and Brooke Bratton. An additional congratulations to Logan Lam and Arthur Zhao who were also selected for the OMEA All-State Orchestra, the highest orchestral honor in the state! Hala, Hunter, and Megan were also chosen as All-state alternates. Great job AHS Orchestra musicians.
• Run for Homecoming Court 2025: Homecoming season is upon us, and it is time to start considering running for Homecoming Court. Check your Graduating Class Google Classroom for information about Homecoming Court and to access the Google Form application. Deadline to Apply is Monday, September 22nd at 3pm.
• Homecoming Dance Tickets on Sale Now! Buy your Homecoming tickets! The Homecoming dance will be held on Saturday, October 4th from 7pm-10pm and tickets are on sale now. The theme is Cosmic Glow. Tickets will be sold until Friday, October 3rd at 3pm. If you would like to bring a guest, forms are available in the main office and students services. • Boys Volleyball: Anyone interested in playing boys volleyball this spring should join the Google Classroom with the following code: ope5eh2. If you have questions, see Mr. Lee in Room 170.
• AP Scholars: Are you interested in Comparative Government, Environmental Science, or Human Geography? Have you wondered if there is a way for you to earn credit for these classes? Now, there is! With AP Scholars, you can independently study for these courses in preparation for the AP test in May, with help from other students enrolled in these courses. Utilize a collection of study resources, from notes to videos, to practice tests. In addition, in-person review sessions will be held for each until to make sure you fully comprehend the content. If you are interested, please attend the informational meeting on Wednesday, September 24th after school in room 245. • Band Practice on Wednesday: If you park in the south lot on the ban practice field, please make sure you move your car by 3pm. This area of the parking lot needs to be cleared for band to practice.
CLEARVIEW:
• Student Council: Attention all Students! Student Council will be hosting the second meeting of the year on Thursday, September 18th in room 114 with Mr. Walter and Mr. Gulish. We will be having officer elections and deciding themes for spirit week. The meeting should last 30 minutes.
• Sophomore Class Officers: After a tightly contested race, the ballots are counted and the Sophomore Class Officers are as follows: President – Samantha Kahnert, Vice-President – Bridget Smith, Secretary – Kelsey Fuentes, Treasurer – Peyton Mikoloski. Congratulations and please see Mr. Walter for meeting details.
• NHS Meeting: NHS will be meeting Tuesday, September 23rd at 2:40pm in room 109. All current member should plan on attending.
• College Visits: Akron University will be here on Wednesday, September 24th during 2nd period in the Media Center. If you would like information on this college, please stop in and see the Representative. Malone University will be here on Thursday, September 25th during 2nd period in the Media Center. If you would like information on this college, please stop in and see the Representative.
• ASVAB: If you are interested in taking the ASVAB exam, please sign up in the counseling office. If you have any questions, let your school counselor know. Please note, this is only for students in grades 10-through 12.
• Girls Basketball Open Gyms: For all Girls interested in playing basketball, there will be open gym in the Clearview High School Gym every Tuesday and Thursday from 3-4 pm. See Coach Dimacchia with any questions.
• College Visits: Akron University will be here on Wednesday, September 24th during 2nd period in the Media Center. If you would like information on this college please stop in and see the Representative. Malone University will be here on Thursday, September 25th during 2nd period in the Media Center. • Homecoming Dance: The Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, October 4th. From 7pm – 10pm in the Clearview High School Gym. Tickets will be $10 each (cash only) and ONLY SOLD AT THE DOOR! If you’d like to bring a guest who DOES NOT attend Clearview, please stop in the Main Office and pick up a guest form. Guest must be at least in the 9th grade and cannot be older than 18 years old. Guest forms are due back no later than Wednesday, October 1st.
COLUMBIA:
• Student Academic Fees: Student Academic fees were due Monday, September 15th. Unpaid fees will result in denial of students to participate n extracurricular activities; including the homecoming dance on Oct. 4th. Contact school office for inquiries on payment plans. Chromebook insurance is no longer available.
• Student Council Offices: Students, please fill out the emailed form that was sent on 9/4/25 from Mile Toppel. Candidate submissions are due by Sept. 17th. Elections will be on September 24th.
• SADD Meeting: Monday, September 22nd at 2:55 in Mlle Toppel room 8. Open to all students interested in joining this year.
• Homecoming 2025: Homecoming Crowning will be Friday Oct. 3rd at 6:30pm, Football game vs. Oberlin is Friday, October 3rd at 7pm. The dance will be Oct. 4th from 7pm-9pm in the CHS gymnasium, a dance form must be completed prior to purchasing tickets – printed forms are available in the main office.
• Winter Color Guard: The sign up for Winter Color Guard is in the HS Band and Choir room. No experience is necessary! Everyone is teachable! Opportunity for flag, rifle, and dance and all 7th -12th grade students are welcome. Deadline to sign up is October 28th. ELYRIA
• Climate, Culture & Beliefs Committee: Did you know we have a committee focused on meeting the needs of students, providing a voice to everyone, and creating a safe and inclusive school climate that fosters a sense of belonging? If you are interested in speaking up for students, see Ms. Pokorny in Room 206 before September 19th.
• School Picture Day: Dress Your Best for Spirit Week and School Picture Day! Picture Day is Thursday, September 18th. All students in grades 9-12 will have their picture taken. You will go with your English class to have your picture taken. Seniors without an English class this semester will receive a pass.
• Yearbook Order Special: Until Sept. 29th, 25-26 EHS yearbooks are their lowest price – a $20 saving plus Jostens’s is offering free icons. Instructions on how to order online were passed out in English classes, posted on Class of Google Classrooms and emailed home to parents/guardians. Payment plans are available. Order before September 29th to take advantage of these savings.
• College Affordability Night: Attention Seniors. College Affordability Night is Thursday, September 18th at 6:30pm in the PAC. Information about the different types of financial aid and how to apply for them will be shared. Students planning to go to college after high school should plan to attend.
• STRIVE: Attention STRIVE members. Our first STRIVE meeting is Thursday, September 18th starting promptly at 7:50 AM in the PAC Lobby. See Mrs. Kirsch if you have any questions. See you there!
• Start With Hello Spirit Week: We will have our first spirit week of the year starting Monday, September 15th to celebrate Sandy Hook’s Start with Hello Week. We will start with Meet and Greet Monday – introduce yourself to five new people.
• Homecoming Tickets: Homecoming is October 4th from 6-9 in the EHS Dining Hall. Homecoming tickets will be on sale from September 15th-October 1st. Ticket prices are one for $15 or two for $25. You can purchase them with cash during your lunch periods or before/after school in room 201. If you are paying with a card, you can scan the QR code in the cafeteria, access the tickets through the athletics website, or find the link on your class of Google Classrooms. Out of district guests must have a guest form approved before their ticket can be purchased. Guest forms can be found in your team office. Out of districts guests will not be permitted to go in without a valid ID. Tickets will not be sold after Oct. 1st.
• Junior Class Officer Elections: Any Junior interested in running for Junior Class Officer Position, see Mrs. Burkey in room 207 and pick up an application. We need a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Applications are due Thursday September 18th by 3pm
• College Representative Meeting: Ohio University, University of Cincinatti, Gannon University, and Xavier University are visiting EHS the week of September 22nd. Sign up in your grade level Google Classroom if you are interested in meeting with these colleges.
• Football Game Attendance Update: School I.D. IS REQUIRED: All high school students attending any home football games must have their school I.D in order to enter. This is whether tickets are purchased online or in person. Middle School students must enter with parent/guardian and sit with them, or in designated Student Section. Elementary students must be accompanied by parent/guardian and sit with them. Parents and guardians must supervise their children. No loitering in walkways, plazas, restrooms or under bleachers. Fans must be seated during the game. Any inappropriate behavior will result in disciplinary action.
FIRELANDS:
• Big Brothers/Big Sisters: Juniors and Seniors – Do you want to make an impact on a young Falcon here at Firelands? If so – Big Brothers – Big Sisters will be here during your lunch periods with information on how you can get involved.
• Falcon Pride Raffle: We will have our second Falcon PRIDE Raffle Friday (9/19)! Don't forget
to enter the raffle by going to the PBIS Rewards app using Clever and
use your points to enter. Just click on the raffle tab on the app and
enter to win. You will have until 12:30 on Friday to enter to win! There
will be one winner drawn from each grade level! If you have any

• Firelands Choral Color Run: The 3rd Annual Firelands Choral Color Run will be held, September 28th at 3pm at FES. It is $30 to participate, which includes a commemorative t-shirt. Registration has begun online @ FirelandsChoralColorTun.Com. Sign up now to show your support for our FHS Choir.
• Important Dates: October 3rd is Homecoming Football and & Friends of Firelands Tailgate, October 4th is the Homecoming Dance.
• Girls Soccer: The girls’ soccer team has improved to 5-3-1 an remains undefeated in the conference. They beat Keystone last Wednesday and picked up another shutout when they defeated Brookside on Saturday. Thank you for all who came out last night to show their love and spirit to our Lady Falcons.
• Listen Up Freshmen: If you ordered a Yearbook last year and have not retrieved it yet, Please pick it up in the Main Office TODAY!
KEYSTONE
• Athletic Passes/Tickets: Adult Athletic Passes can be purchased in the athletic department for $125. These passes are good for all home events. Please contact Jeff Holzhauer (Jeffery.holzhauer@keystoneschools.org) with any questions. Football tickets prices for all varsity games in the Lorain County 8 have increased to $10 per ticket this season. Tickets remain at $8 for high school events and $5 for middle school events for all other sports.
• Freshman Girls: If you are interested in being a part of the Class of 2029 Chapter of Girltalk please submit your application by Wednesday, October 1st. Those chosen will be notified via email of their acceptance shortly after. We look forward to another great year of girls supporting girls!
• ROX: The Rox Leadership Team is selling Spirit Packs for our upcoming “Pink Out” game in October for $20. All those interested in ordering should fill out the google form and turn in the $20 to Miss Atkinson by September 26th.
• Sophmores: Interested in applying to be KHS’s representatives for the summer Hugh O’Brien Youth Conference? There will be an information session during Connections on Wednesday, Oct. 1st in the cafeteria. If you are interested in learning more, reach out to your counselor or fill out the Connections Workshop Google form.
• Seniors: the MANDATORY Senior Class Panoramic Photo will take place Friday, October 3rd. All seniors will report at 7:30 for the photo and wear either their class shirts or a purple Keystone shirt. Keep an eye out for the Senior Pano Photo order forms.
• Homecoming: The Homecoming Dance is Saturday, September 27th from 7pm – 10pm. Tickets will be on sale in the study hall room (124) and during lunches for $15. KHS students are permitted to purchase tickets at the door for $20. If you are bringing a guest from another school, you need to get a form from the main office. The guest form needs to be completed prior to purchasing a guest ticket. The last day for pre-sale tickets and to purchase a guest ticket is Thursday, September 25th.
• BBQ Club: BBQ club chili cook off sign ups close this Friday. Make sure your team gets signed up! See Ms. Heff if you have any questions.
• Attention Seniors: Jostens will be here TODAY in the Athletic Lobby to take orders for Cap & Gown and Class Rings! If you are not ordering online and need a packet – stop by the office to pick one up!
