AVON:
• Freshmen Class: Attention freshman! The ballot for the class of 2029 officers is now live on Google Classroom. Please cast your vote for your class officers by the end of the day on Monday, September 8th. Good luck to those running for a position, and stay tuned for the results.
• Fall Play: Are you a Soc or a Greaser? The fall play for 2025 is The Outsiders, based on the book by S.E. Hinton that most of you read in 8th grade. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, September 16th, and Wednesday, September 17th from 3pm-4:30pm in the auditorium. Copies of audition scenes will be available in the main office or room 222; pick up a copy, read it, and bring it to one of the two audition times. Contact Mr. Postle if you have any questions. See you after school on the 16th or 17th and break a leg.
• Boys Soccer: Come out and support your Avon Boys Soccer Teams as they take on the #2 team in the nation at home against Saint Ignatius. JV starts at 5pm and Varsity starts at 7pm. Theme is blackout! See you at the Stadium!
• Band Practice on Wednesday: If you park in the south lot on the ban practice field, please make sure you move your car by 3pm. This area of the parking lot needs to be cleared for band to practice.
• Be Kind To Our Neighbors: For students who use Hunter’s Trail to arrive and depart from school, please make sure you observe the speed limit. Do not block driveways and be aware that there is noise ordinance.
CLEARVIEW:
• Picture Day: School pictures will be taken during all English classes on Thursday, September 11th. All students are required to have their photo taken for a school ID card.
• Girls Basketball Open Gyms: For all Girls interested in playing basketball, there will be open gym in the Clearview High School Gym every Tuesday and Thursday from 3 – 4 pm. See Coach Dimacchia with any questions.
• Sophmore Class Advisors: Attention Sophomores! If you are interested in running for class advisors we need a President, Vice President, Tresurer and Secretary. Potential Officers must email Mr. Walter and create a poster to hang around the school. Elections will be held Friday, September 12th through Monday, September 15th. Please see the announcement in Google Classroom for more information.
• Track and Field: For student athletes interested in participating in Track & Field for the upcoming Spring season, there will an informational meeting on Wednesday September 17th at 7:35 am in the auditorium.
• Senior Class Officers: Attention Seniors! Please email Mrs. Karr if you’re interested in becoming a Senior Class Officer! Positions need to be filled are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Also, please read the list of Senior Class Officer Expectations that was emailed and also posted in the Seniors Google Classroom. If you are running make sure to post flyers around the school this week! Voting will take place on Friday, September 12th.
COLUMBIA:
• Picture Day: Wednesday, September 17th is picture day. Online ordering is through cavanaughphoto.com/order. Presale link is open 3 weeks before picture day and 48 hours after. You can pay with cash or check order form.
• Academic Fees: Unpaid fees are due Monday, September 15th. Unpaid fees will result in denial of students to participate in extracurricular activites.
• Chromebook Insurance: If you would like to purchase Chromebook Insurance, it is due by Friday, September 12th. After the due date, chromebook insurance will no longer be available for the 25-26 school year. Contact the school for a payment plan if needed.
• Student Council Offices: Students, please fill out the emailed form that was sent on 9/4/25 from Mile Toppel. Candidate submissions are due by Sept. 17th. Elections will be September 24th.
• Drama’s Yearly Informational Meeting: Wednesday, September 10th at 7pm in the High School Cafeteria.
• Leaders Club: Wednesday, September 10th after school Miss Scali’s room 3.
• Homecoming 2025: Homecoming Crowning will be Friday Oct. 3rd at 6:30pm, Football game vs. Oberlin is Friday, October 3rd at 7pm. The dance will be Oct. 4th from 7pm-9pm in the CHS gymnasium, a dance form must be completed prior to purchasing tickets – printed forms are available in the main office.
ELYRIA
• Freshman Class Elections: Hey Class of 2029, anyone who would like to run for a class office, see Mrs. Hejny in room 116 for a packet. All forms must be turned in by Thursday, September 11th. Elections will take place on the week of September 15th.
• College Representative Meetings: The University of Akron and Ashland University are visiting EHS the week of September 8th. If you are interested in learning more about these colleges, sign up in your grade level Google Classroom or see Mrs. Anderle.
• Unified Sports Participates: Want to join Unified Sports? It is an inclusive program by Special Olympics that combines athletes with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team for sports training and competition. The goal is to promote social inclusion, friendship, and understanding by bringing people together. Stop down in room 141/139 to sign up.
• Climate, Culture & Beliefs Committee: Did you know we have a committee focused on meeting the needs of students, providing a voice to everyone, and creating a safe and inclusive school climate that fosters a sense of belonging? If you are interested in speaking up for students, see Ms. Pokorny in Room 206 before September 19th.
• First Drama Club Meeting: The first Drama Club meeting will be held Wednesday, September 10th at 3pm in room 120. We will talk about the drama club year and expectations. If you are interested in trying out for the The Outsiders, you can pick up your audition packet too! We are also always looking for crew members! See Mr. Graves in room 120 if you have any questions.
• EHS Bowling Team Meeting: Hello Girl and Boy Bowlers! There will be an interest meeting next Monday, September 8, in room 134 after school.
• College Application Essay Workshop: Attention Seniors. Do you need help figuring out your college application essay writing workshop on Thursday, September 11th during the lunch periods in room 101W. Sign up on the Class of 2026 Google Classroom.
• Back-to-School Update: Attention students! Please make sure your parent/guardian has completed their Back-to-School Update in their PowerSchool Parent Portal ASAP! All students whose parent/guardian has done so by September 11th will be entered into a raffle to win a pair of Homecoming tickets! Winners will be announced September 12th during homeroom. If your parent/guardian needs assistance accessing paperwork, please see page 5 of the student packet and/or reach out to your team secretary.
• First French of French Club: Are you interested in French? French music? French food? French culture? Come check out French Club at EHS! You are invited to our first meeting on Friday, September 12, at 2:45 in Room 209. Frech Club is looking for new leaders also.
• Yearbook Staffing: Are you interested in helping create the EHS Yearbook? Come to our first meeting on Wednesday, Sept.10th in Room 243 after school. The meeting will last until 3:15. If you cannot make the meeting, please see Mrs. Hammond.
• Prom Committee: Attention Seniors. Would you like to help create an amazing prom for your senior class? If so, join Prom Committee! We will meet on September 9th in room 239 after school and will discuss themes. See Mrs. Anderle with questions.
• Freshmen and Sophomore Information Night: Freshmen and Sophomore Information Night will be on Thursday, September 11th at 6:30 in the PAC. Freshmen, sophomores, and their parents and guardians are encouraged to attend to learn about post-secondary planning and graduation requirements.
• Current NHS Members: Our first meeting is Wednesday, September 10th. You may attend the morning (7:15-7:40) or afternoon (2:45-3:15pm) meeting in room 138. Attendance will be taken. Please note this meeting is NOT for students that have just received their eligibility letters.
• Ohio Youth Alive: Salt and Light is Elyria’s Ohio Youth Alive Club with the mission of finding light in a dark place through God. We will be meeting in room 224 on Tuesday, September 9th right after school. We hope to see you there.
• Anime Club: Anime Club meets every Wednesday after school from 2:45-4pm in room 101. Permission slips need to be turned in before you can attend. Please see Miss Garcia or Ms. Wolbert with any questions. We hope to see you there!
• Gymnastics Team: Attention girls interested in gymnastics: please stop into the athletic office to sign up by Friday, Sept. 12th. Information regarding the season will be shared at a later date.
• Homecoming Court Applications: If you are interested in running for homecoming court, you must complete the Homecoming Court Application form by Wednesday, September 17th. They can be found in your team office.

FIRELANDS:
• Final Forms: Please make sure that ALL of your Final Forms have been filled out and signed by yourself and your parents. Please do this ASAP so you can be eligible for privileges and upcoming field trips.
• Dismissal: Any student that is staying after school for practice, clubs, or any other reason must wait in the Falcon Nest until dismissal is complete. Once all bus riders have exited the building, they will be allowed to head to the locker rooms, gym, classrooms, etc.
• Modified Block Schedule: Next week will be our first week of Block Schedule. The schedule can be found on Keener’s Weekly Flyer. If you are unsure of how this works or have any concerns, please reach out to your counselor before Friday.
• Attention 9th Graders: Last year’s yearbooks can be picked up in the Main Office. If you ordered one last year, please pick them up today during your lunch.
• Important Dates: Picture Day is September 16th, October 3rd is Homecoming Football and & Friends of Firelands Tailgate, October 4th is the Homecoming Dance.
• Ohio House Bill 250: This year, students are not permitted to use cell phones, ear buds, or smart watches during the school day. This policy applies to all class periods, study halls, lunch, and privilege times. Cell phones must be turned off and stored in your locker at all times. If you need to contact a parent or guardian, you may do so from the main office.
KEYSTONE
• Drama Club: This Spring our Drama club is putting on Peter Pan. Auditions will be held Thursday September 11th, after school in the cafetorium. Bring a monologue and a song.
• Athletic Passes/Tickets: Adult Athletic Passes can be purchased in the athletic department for $125. These passes are good for all home events. Please contact Jeff Holzhauer (Jeffery.holzhauer@keystoneschools.org) with any questions. Football tickets prices for all varsity games in the Lorain County 8 have increased to $10 per ticket this season. Tickets remain at $8 for high school events and $5 for middle school events for all other sports.
• Interested in applying for National Honor Society: NHS Applications are now available in the office. To be eligible to apply, students must be of Junior or Senior standing, have a weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher. Pick up an application and an essay prompt if you are interested in applying. Applications are due to Ms. Catanzarito by the 2:30 PM on Thursday, September 11th. See Ms. Catanzarito with any questions.
• Yearbooks: Extra copies of the 2025 yearbook are now for sale! Books can be purchased for $85 cash or check made payable to Keystone High School in Mr. Hogue's room (108). Extra copies are being sold on a first-come-first-served basis and will no longer be available once the remaining extra copies are gone.
• Wrestling: Anyone who missed the wrestling meeting and plans to wrestle this season, please see Coach Vondruska to get what you missed at the meeting.
• Picture Day: Picture Day is this Thursday. All students MUST have their photo taken! Seniors: this photo will be used in the yearbook and at commencement – dress appropriately!
WELLINGTON
• Homecoming: Homecoming week is 9/14 – 9/20 please check out the link on our website for all of the different events happening!
• Communication Test: Attention Parents and Guardians. We will be performing a Communication Test to all parents/guardians on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025 at approximately 4pm. This test will be sent via phone call, text and email. If you do not receive any of these communications, please contact your child’s building secretary to update their emergency contact information.
