Turn your creativity into real-world solutions through advanced design and engineering principles. Students gain hands-on experience in blueprint reading, 3D modeling, and problem-solving through industry-inspired projects in mechanical, civil, architectural, and biomedical engineering. Use industry-standard software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, and REVIT Architecture, and explore cross-training with machining, welding, and drone technology.

Precision Machine Technology

Shape the Future—One Precision Part at a Time
Train for in-demand careers in advanced manufacturing by mastering precision machining and metalworking. This hands-on program prepares students to fabricate, assemble, and repair parts using manual and computer-controlled machinery. Learn to read blueprints, apply accurate measurements, and use CAD/CAM tools like Fusion 360 to bring your designs to life. Earn industry-recognized certifications from the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) and develop the foundation for success in high-tech, high-wage careers.

Prepare for success in engineering, science, and technology fields through Project Lead The Way (PLTW)—a nationally recognized, college-prep curriculum. The PLTW Engineering program at Lorain County JVS combines hands-on learning with real-world problem-solving to help you explore multiple engineering disciplines while building a strong academic foundation. This award-winning program is delivered in partnership with Lorain County Community College, giving students direct access to college-level facilities and instruction.

    PLTW Engineering is a nationally certified and accredited program. This means that National PLTW has agreements in place with several colleges/universities around the country where credit is awarded if the student fulfills all of the requirements of the particular educational institution. Each school is different and has different requirements. The complete listing of these schools and their current requirements can be found on the National PLTW website. The schools with an icon that says "college-level recognition" offer possible college credits to PLTW students.

Cut, Fuse, and Forge Your Path in a High-Demand Skilled Trade

Program Overview
Train in the essential skills needed to join the workforce as a certified welder and metal fabricator. This hands-on program covers multiple welding processes, layout and fabrication techniques, and the use of industry-standard equipment. You'll work on real-world projects that reflect current demands in construction, manufacturing, and fabrication industries.
