Early Childhood Education
Inspire Young Minds with Hands-On Teaching Experience

Train for meaningful careers in early childhood education through real-world classroom experience. This hands-on program prepares students to plan, lead, and assess engaging lessons for children ages three to five in ODE-licensed preschool classrooms. Students also gain valuable experience working with infants, toddlers, and school-age children at local daycare centers, Head Start programs, and elementary schools.

Build essential skills in:

  • Child Development and Lesson Planning

  • Classroom Management and Communication

  • Parent Engagement and Conferences

  • Field Trip Planning and Student Assessment

  • Positive Behavior Support and Relationship Building

Students graduate with up to 120 classroom hours toward the National Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, helping launch their journey in the early childhood field with confidence and purpose.

Teacher Education Exploration
Inspire the Next Generation with Hands-On Experience in the Classroom

Explore the rewarding field of education through this college-connected, hands-on training program designed for high school seniors. The Teacher Education Exploration program prepares future educators by combining classroom instruction with real-world internship experience in local elementary, middle, or high schools.

Gain valuable experience in:

  • Student Engagement Strategies

  • Professional Communication and Collaboration

  • Educational Best Practices and Leadership

  • College Readiness and the Teaching Pathway

Students earn four high school credits through a combination of academic work and internships with experienced educators. The program may be held at Lorain County JVS or Lorain County Community College, depending on your home district.

This one-year program is open to high school seniors with a counselor recommendation and is designed to spark a passion for teaching while providing a strong foundation for college and career success in education.
